Is there a way

in Surveyor to copy a scene, town, industry setup, etc. to another route? I make my own intermodal terminals and would like to be able to use it in other routes to replace the one already there. Can this be done. Can a copy/paste operation be done between routes?
BTW I have done an ethanol facility on a single baseboard and used it in a route, but I can only place it on an edge, by using a merge. I want to be able to put the scene where I want it.

What you could do is single out the baseboard the scene is on and save it seperately, then merge it to the side of your route, and then copy the scene. Then delete the extra baseboard and continue working on the route.

You can, but here's what I'd do:

Edit the original route.

Delete every baseboard except the one.

Use the save As option to save that under a different name.

Open the other route for editing.

Use the Merge tool to merge the single baseboard you just saved seperately.

Copy the scene.

Delete the single baseboard form the route.

Save.

This way, you keep the original route and the single baseboard is saved as a route by itself, seperate form the route it was taken from. And the original route still remains intact.

Kieran. The only change in procedure I'd make is to do an immediate "Save As..." right after opening the route (reverse step 2 and 3). That way, you don't have the problem of forgetting to do the Save As after deleting those baseboards.

That is what I just did and it worked like a charm. It's kind of a PIA to delete all the boards from a large route, but you gotta do what you gotta do. Now I can start to build a library of choice scenes to drop into some of my favorite routes. If you can't create, ya gotta borrow. BTW-No route that I have modified will ever be uploaded or shared, these are for my personal enjoyment only. Trainz version of Layout Design Elements!
Thank you for your kind assistance

The only fly in the ointment is when you have a zero-elevation scene board and the route you want to fit it into lies at 1000m or so. That can cause problems.

Bill,

That's a good point about the reversal of steps 2 and 3, but the idea of my method was to save the single baseboard only as a seperate route and exit out of the original, discarding the changes.

Mark,

Glad I could help. :)
