is there a reason to upgrade to 2010?????

I agree with IKB..2010 works ok for me I have both Angelah's WCLs on it working ok.If for no other reason I find the pick list the handiest thing since SLB.
My Spec are not all that great.
Win 7 64 bit.
1 AMD 64x2 Dual Core.4600+
4 DGB Ram
80 GB Hard Drive
Nvidia GeForce 8600 GT
Mob.Asus M2N32-SI DL
Would probably work better with a bigger HD,but about all I have on it is Trainz.Leonard

My only vote is 2006, There was never anything wrong with it, I'm not spending money on a problem with no solution, its not broken, why upgrade? And to answer a long old question in this thread, I seriously doubt most content creators will upgrade them selfs, seeing as scripting is harder in 2010 and well theres no real point.... Don't dare answer with oh well stuff can have flashing ditchlights, JR already fixed that.. 2009 is a waste of time, everything is too bright and the sounds are messed up, and the only time i played 2010 on a friends computer, it was too laggy and slow to put down a piece of track, but his 2006 Ran just fine, Hit up a commuter route with 20+ trains..... Its all a failure attempt at looking like the other sims by auran, 1, Railworks is running mostly off Payware content rangeing up to 50-60 dollars for A ROUTE, that isn't even that long, And MSTS is.... well...... Still Mostly payware, if you want a train that looks like... well a train, which even in payware i've found it hard to see anything with the detail in trainz, And its from 2001... Its not a problem, I think the whole changing over deal wouldn't be as bad, If auran STOPED for a minute, Took TIME in there new releases, and didn't give out copys of trainz (2010) with no working content, With patches or not, You need to be releaseing high quality products, that WORK, on the first time, thats why you do beta tests, with real people not 9 year olds, and get everything in there, Having 3 or 4 Service packs is rather pointless, like a big bill-board saying "THIS GAME IS JIPED..."

~No offense auran, just take time in your work, Quality not Quantity, btw 2006 IS THE BEST EVER

strange

I've found frame rates in Trainz 2010 a bit jarry at times, but I put this down to my graphics card, I have a Nvidia Geforce 7300, However I am in the process of upgrading to a Nvidia Geforce GTS250, this should solve my problem.

The point I'm making is, if you have a decent computer with a good graphics card, then I would suggest you upgrade to Trainz 2010, it has a superb UK route called the East Coast Mainline, it's set in the 80's, and your test is to drive the HST 125 from York, calling at various stations along the way, including Doncaster, right the way through to Kings Cross London.

There are also other superb and very well detailed routes from various parts of the world, there is more content and better looking content, except for the HST coaches.

Speedtree is a new item in Trainz, some people like them, some don't, if you don't like them there are other free sites to get trees from including Greenier and Jankvis trees, Some of Jankvis trees are included in Trainz 2010 under the name JVC, these are superb alternatives to speedtree.

As for the steam issue, I can't help you with that as I'm a diesel / Electric locomotive fan (Unless it's GWR Steam :udrool:castles:udrool:GWR:udrool:city of truro:udrool::udrool::mop: sorry about the drool, this is the main reason I don't talk about GWR on here)

Hope this helps

I DROVE REAL TRAINS IN NZ FOR 17 YEARS AND NEVER DERAILED A TRAIN WHILE STATIONARY.THOUGHT I WOULD CHECK OUT A TUTORIAL AND WAS TOLD I HAD DERAILED WHILE SITTING AT THE STATION.CURIOUS AS TO WHETHER THERE MIGHT BE A LOGICAL REASON FOR THIS?

It wasn't Liverpool Lime Street by any chance was it ?

update on table top rail

MP15AC -- athern genisis, and SW1500, Athern, with new motor. both for 198$ total, at 'whistle stop' in portland. got 2009 to work again, so, using trainz to mock-up the HO route.

it's dumbing, really -- i've got this advanced art degree, and i'm an artist and supposed to be all 'imaginative', but, when it comes to putting routes together i freeze up -- i don't have enough information... i don't really know what a large flour mill 'looks' like as a train dialog... so, trainz is still my buddy after all. don't think i'll do 2010 -- and, it's free if you know how -- but, i won't do bootleg, just because, and i don't really trust 2010 anyway. being a visual person, i've always thought that most anything but a forestry operation or urban setting sucked as scenery in trainz or model train layout.

>>>>so, i went out yesterday, and, instead of buying a copy of 2010, i bought a kadee ps2 covered hopper -- southern pacific, at 42 bucks, and talking to the friendly people at the trains store... and it's a commitment to my HO layout. i've thought about this over the last year, considered it, wondered if i would play with it, and decided it's what i want.

nothing more to add except that I like to point out that I read this and I found it quite helpful. I wish all forums were as good as this one.

May I ask what conclusions you drew from reading this thread? Are you more or less likely to buy TS10 as a result?

I am going to get 2010. I do not have anything invested in 2009 other than the murcheson and S&C routes. I have a pretty quick computer and I have already done enough with 2009 to realise that I would like the one that runs a little better and gives me some more content.

It doesn't seem like the Marias Pass X is coming anytime soon so I might as well get 2010.

Are you sure you were on ther top of the rails! Ha Ha. Just kidding, alittle down-under joke. Or maybe you were at the Auran Download Station when this happened!
yes u could be right.had 4 derailments when driving one being my fault perhaps the dreaded lurgy has followed me?

have done that.definite improvement.plus upgraded graphics cards.thanks.

Trainz 2010 trumps all previous versions. Here's why:

* Improved graphics
* SPEEDTREEZ! :udrool:
* Chrisracer8903's fantabulous routes:udrool:
* All of the add-on packs for 2009 are compatible
* Customizable menus
* Improved speed
* All 2009 content works out of the box
* OK, I'm out of ideas!

In conclusion, ahem, SKIP 2009!

For me it was quiet simple. Do I want to remain trying to drive around in a "1918 Model T Ford" from a vintage era, or do I want to drive around in the latest 2010 Mustang. (or 2010 Corvette)...
I'll bet you can guess what I choose...
Cheer, Mac...
