is there a reason to upgrade to 2010?????

Well for starters, those of us who bought 009 and 010 will more than likely be shifting route construction to the newer version simply as a result of the increased stability and extra resources from the new routes and rolling stock.

In fact, I'm currently drafting a short review of TS2010 for my site and it really hit me... When you benchmark what TS2010 has to offer compared to all the other sims and more particularly Railworks it is absolutely essential the programme survives. I was initially critical and sceptical of TS2010 but what other train sim offers so much out the box? I'm not talking so much about the individual routes but the vast resources of just about everything a route builder could ever need. That's before looking at the DLS, there's such a wealth of default content - just consider the amount of terrain textures in TS2010 versus the mediocre collection in Railworks. The rolling stock list seems to have grown again with more from the UK, Germany, North America and of course the superb Chinese stuff.

Whatever happens next in the train sim scene, including Auran's own aspirations, this unique collection must be preserved for all to enjoy in years to come.

While I do not take back my original post in this thread, I do have to agree. Go buy 2010 so we can at least see what happens next. =) Trainz 2010 is a great program despite the minor issues we all encounter.

I'm afraid I'm in the same boat as you. Went back to TC and now everything works as it should. No more Auran shop for me.

Not for the forseeable future indeed. TS2009 will be the last one I have bought for some time to come. I rather spend my sparse free time on one version then a (useless) yearly updated version for which the content goal posts have been moved yet again. No sir, I have had my share.

I have just gone back to Trainz 2009 myself as I have found a number of errors in Trainz 2010, with forgetful tunnel portals, forgetful edit session rules, forgetful set start time in driver, forgetful commands including STW, time and weather rule, land mysteriously disappears from time to time, wierd speckled land on the horizon when it's foggy, the list goes on...

So I have given up with Trainz 2010, and I'm going back to Trainz 2009, at least everything I import into trainz 2009 will work without mysterious errors or forcing trainz to crash.

The only sad thing is, I will miss the superb route the East Coast Mainline, ah well can't have everything...

I have to agree with "crohakon" i cannot find as much content in 2010 as 2009 and i have had nothing but trouble with 2010. I have 2004,2006,2009 no problems "weejock" :'(

Try this:
1. Do Main Menu|Options
2. Click Surveyor Settings
3. Scroll down and uncheck "Only display favorite content"

And on the routes screen, if you see a little gold star, click it. Then you'll be able to see all the old routes that are included with TS2010.

I believe most of your problems are the result of re-opening the route for edit rather then the session. See my post here:

The routes page UI is hardly intuitive and this trips up quite a few people, despite the fact that it's covered in the manual.

My reply has been moved to this thread...

Hope this helps and many thanks

Since you have neither version, your opinion is not really valid.

Between TS2009 and TS2010, the choice has to be TS2010 and that opinion is based on using both.

Plenty of problems with TRS2010

I wish I could say that 2010 is the best but it seems to have been rushed to market. Yes the graphics are faster and the trees do not pop up slowly as they did in earlier version, which is more realistic.

The problems are that the Portal and other objects do not hold there programed settings from one session to the next which makes them pretty useless. It just seems that no one tested this release before it was sold.

This sounds like the result of re-opening the route for edit and not the session. Or possibly the result of merging a session layer into a route layer. I've made sessions using portals and they function fine. I've also used MIN and other similar configurable industries, reconfigured the products a particular car can carry, and had no problem with any of that. And the main route/session I've worked on is an automated session with, as I recall, 7 different trains at the moment.

Edit: Also, using faulty content in a portal might cause it to not work.
