Is the DLS Down Today

Still down. I have over 300 updates and none of them will download. CM (3.7) can FIND them, it then says "unable to locate" and turns the entry red. What a colossal mess. If I were "lotharhake" or "olegkhim" I'd be pretty ticked off right now. Most of the updates are theirs.

I'm not sure it is the original content creator who is updating these assets. I've seen names of content creators on some assets that I don't think have been active in Trainz for years. Remember the Trainz EULA; "Once you put something on the DLS N3V owns it and can do whatever they want with it". But, whatever or however it is being done it is now a colossal mess.
 
That's because the server has gone missing. It's in Texas, if that explains anything.

What really stems my beans is that the program (CM and TS2012) both claim it is my fault because "my firewall settings and/or Internet connection is down". Yeah, right.

Hmmm..So It Has Been Like This For Awhile? I Just Bought Train Simulator 2 For iPad Early This Morning. Looking To Buy TS2014 Online Somewhere. But Don't See It. As A Download.
 
I have TS12 SP1 build 61388.
When I open up the game it shows that I have 410 assets that need to be updated. However when I try to update them it indicates "file not found" on the DLS. If the game is smart enough to know that updates are available why can it not find the files when requested.

Is this a DLS issue or is something else going on here?
 
Actually, I'm neither. I have my own site which has nothing to do with Trainz at all. Mine has been up now for over 5 years and I've never had any component go down during that time. N3V uses hamster-powered servers and occasionally the poor little thing dies. It takes them a while to find and train a new hamster to take over.

As for TS2014, I'm not sure what that is. If it is on Steam, please reconsider buying it as Steam does NOT follow the same update/patching procedures as N3V, nor do they provide much support (well, less than N3V, if that's possible). I don't know if Trainz for the iPad has a serial number, but if it does, you need to go and enter it so that the version shows up next to your name. Without it, you're not likely to get much support here.

Keep in mind that TS2014 is not the same as Trainz at all and is made by a different company.

Looks like you've been around long enough to know, Paul, that N3V occasionally messes up big time and it takes them quite a while to straighten things out. The DLS is apparently several servers (all separate from each other) that have to function in unison or we get what we've got now. The "find the asset" server seems to be up, but the actual "give me the CDP server" is down. Thus, you get "hey! You have NNNN updatez and I can find them all", but when attempting to download, you get "well, gee whiz, I don't know WHERE that file is now."

Didnt Know That. Thanks For That Info. No Serial For The iPad Version. Just So I Know... For This Trainz Site... What Games Or Simulators Is Associated With It? For The Train Simulator 2 On iPad... It Said I Couldn't Download Anything Unless I Made A Auran.com Account. That's What Brought Me Here. The TS2014 I Think Is Microsoft. I Have Their Old One. Either Way... My Love Of Trains Brought Me Here Also. I To Have My Own Site. I Am A Music Producer/DJ.
 
The train simulators that are out there (Microsoft, Auran/N3V, etc.) are completely different and their content cannot be mixed together. This site is for the versions provided by Auran and, later, N3V (after a name change). There is another being marketed by Steam (an online gaming company) that is also aligned with the Auran/N3V versions, but Steam maintains the game updates on a different schedule than Auran/N3V.

Microsoft's version (MSTS) went "out of business" quite a while ago, but there are a number of fans still around (I'm one of them and play it regularly - just don't build anything any more). The latest Auran/N3V version (that is still under support) is TS2012 (Train Simulator 2012) but a newer version T:ANE (Trainz: A New Era) will be hitting the shelves "soon". The "soon" is a joke we use here on the forum as N3V is fond os using that phrase for almost everything.

Just to point out to others on this thread - it's not completely down, as I was able to download a few assets yesterday. It is running slow though.

RodSMFunk - you will need to register your Trainz version unless you are using a second account for Trainz itself.

The database server and the file server seem to be out of sync. (Almost ?) any file, uploaded after Janauary 20th (?), isn't available at the file servers. Old files are still downloadable..

I agree with Peter; one can download old files but not this last week's ones which all come up with the red bar. I now have over 700 updates on my list. I hope this is sorted out before the end of the month so that I can use up this month's 20GB broadband quota and not have an extra load for next month.
 
I 366 but updates are not found, even the new items you can not download, when N3V adjust the server? I paid the First Class Download but now I can not use it

After this fiasco, I think the decent thing N3V could do would be to extend FCT's by a week (presuming it gets fixed today, that is).

The DLS is still working for stuff up to the 23rd and for some items dated today, not all though. I've just caught up on some of the updates for 49922 got it down from over 4000 to 800 which are all dated 23, 24 and 25.
 
NOTHING Downloads For Me. I Have The Trainz Simulator 2 For iPad. No Serial Comes With It. But I Needed To Make A Account With THIS Site To Download User Created Routes. Nothing Before Jan 20th Downloads...
