Is it just me or is the forum boring lately?

Thats a Yay from me for an off-topic forum.

I would like to see an off topic forum because it fosters the community spirit which I feel is now sadly lacking. We all have Trainz as a common hobby/pastime but it would be nice to post outside the constraints now imposed.

In the past it was good to be able to swap banter and comments on a whole range of subjects (within reason obviously!) with other members from around the globe. I learnt many interesting facts etc on various subjects and the forum seemed a happier, friendlier place.

Surely its not just a coincidence that many of the original/veteran members are not around anymore since the forum crash and the subsequent changes??

I realise that Auran are not as well staffed as previously, but as posted previously there are members willing to moderate an off topic forum and I feel at this time it could a lot of good to the forums general apathy/boredom and lack of community spirit!

Just a few thoughts from me

I'll put my vote in for an off-topic forum. Sometimes I just get a little burned out and need a break. Conversing with Trainz members from around the world would be a welcome break for me and it would give me an opportunity to learn a little more about all of you. This couldn't help but improve the sense of community here as long as everyone kept the threads and comments civil.

Well for a start the is an one topic fourm - if you what to have a good old chin wag and in real time why not check out the #trainz on the good old IRC that place is rocking.

As to the veterans leaving well most are still here, you guys do have to remember that this is a help fourm and support fourm for the trainz software it was never meant to be a gamers community chit chat. There are other fourms which do that.

But the bigger problem is new blood A) not reading posting B) not searching old posting.

I recently posted a problem in the TC fourm and got one long winded reply form a young guy but if he had read my posting he would had seen were I had already tryed what he was telling me to do.

I find of late that I do not bother to read or reply to many posting as I seem to be typing the same replys over and over again to the same problems.

I am an Early member, and used to post all the time on the old forum. Somehow, it just does not seem the same since the crash, when we lost so many good posts, and posters.

I still look in from time to time, and of course, I still run my Trainz regularly.

An "off topic" board might be a good idea, as long as people are talking about sensible subjects.:)

We've had an off topic thread for about 2 months now & it's still going it's a mix between sensible & insane but at least it's still going. So we may still have a chance of another off topic forum.Things have settled down quite a bit since the crash & the harsh penalty days of anything other than 100% trainz related posts.

I think they could at least give it a go if only on a trial basis to see what happens & if need be shut it down if it comes to that.

It's sad, I remember the "Gool ole days", now it just seems if you have a comment, and it's not exactly the same as the mods, poof, it's gone. Oh well, change is always going to be there, good or not.

Things just got a lot less boring worldwide with the release of GTA IV :D
And the multi-player is so good that I've hardly been on anything else on Xbox Live, and for me not to be playing Splinter Cell DA or Test Drive Unlimited online is just unheard of.

Oh, and things still appear to be boring around here.
But wait...we have imminent news of TC3 coming soon, so get ready for an Auran presence on the forums for a few weeks. :hehe:

Smiley.

maybe if we get everyone to speak jibersih it will be good:D .

startin now , look at me ma ,em speakn cht.

Boring??? Not lately!

I don't know if its just me but the forum has been anything but boring lately!

The "Ignor this thread...just checking forum software thread" misteriously disappeared.

Zwabberaar got banned.

There is lively discussion going on in the "What's Up with Auran? Answer is here!" thread.

From the creators of "Darjeeling Himalayan Railway" announced their next great project "Chicago Tunnel Company System".

Oh yes then there is the controversy in the thread "Public request for an explanation from the owner of UdosTrain-Sim Portal".

There is a Chinese curse that says "may you live in interesting times". These are interesting times for the forum. Wouldn't you agree?

I do indeed agree; however, since the alternative is boredom, why is "living in interesting times" concidered a curse?

I take a guess that it is a case of understatement, where perhaps those who lived in 'intresting times', say the Blitz on London, would, in retrospect, have preferred a bit of boredom.
