Is AWS functional?

I'm new to Trainz and have been driving the Dundee-King's Cross scenario. Is the AWS system supposed to work? Is there something I need to do in the cab to turn it on? Thanks.

Welcome to Trainz and to the forums!

The AWS system is engaged automatically, I think, and is controlled in the session setup through an AWS rule.

The only time you need to acknowledge a signal is when it's something else other than green. If you fail to do so, I think your session ends. It's been awhile since I've done the built-in sessions so I might be wrong on this. I instead spend most of my time working on my own routes, or testing those by others.

What I'm used to from other train sims is that I get a ding approaching a green signal, which doesn't have to be reponded to, or a buzz approaching a yellow or red signal, or a speed reduction. I'm not hearing anything.

I just tested it, and I get the dings as I approach greens. There are small yellow AWS warning devices on the track that the train passes over. I don't know why yours aren't activating. The AWS 'sunflower' should be activated as well unless you deactivated the device.

Sorry to bring up a old thread. But in TS22 it seems to be added to my session/route without me adding it. When I go into driver it appears but I dont have the rule in my sessions. So wondering if there is a way to get rid of it?
