Interactive Passenger Stations

Having taken advantage of an excellent offer I recently bought a copy of TRS 2022 PE. I like it, but am struggling with one particular aspect - passenger stations that work! By "work" I mean that the train stops at the given position and subsequently loads and unloads Passenger Product 2020.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a passenger station that works as designed in this version of Trains please? Ideally, I want a four platform station but am aware that this might not be available?

I have been "Trainzing" for over 20 years and cannot bring myself to accept that a functional interactive passenger station does not exist in the most recent release.

Thanks

The stations on the builtin Route KickStarter County 2 work for me. They load the builtin passenger set you want to use as well.

Any station that has attached track is normally passenger-active. In CM search for station and use installed + scripted to narrow them down.
<kuid:-25:1540> Prod Passengers 2020 is the latest one.

The ones from trainzmaps.pl has some, and has some different platform variants, also check trainz forge, they have interactive ones as well.

You need to check to make sure the cars you use, "ACCEPT" the passengers at the station. Not all stations use the same Passengers.

Oh you'll find that Trainz is very ecumenical in most things. Any track of any gauge will accept any train no matter the wheel gauge. Likewise with people, with the correct tag, anyone can ride on any train.

One catch with using any interactive passenger station that you always have to issue two commands (in the order specified below) to make the AI work as expected:

1. 'Drive to'
2. 'Load'

Only then the train will slow down and stop correctly inside the station, not before it.

When it comes to the actual assets, some time ago I released a large collection of interactive stations ("PNS Polish Invisible Stations") in various configurations of platform counts and sizes + a library to create your own one without the need to code anything, you just configure everything in config.txt. My stations follow the approach intended by N3V, where the entire station is a single asset:
  • works well with the default AI system - low risk that anything unexpected happens or breaks,
  • if your station has a unique layout of platforms, you have two options:
    • you model your own asset. The game sees it as a single station with multiple platforms and gives you a good UI for that,
    • you combine your station from multiple smaller assets. The game sees them as separate stations, and the user experience is worse.
I test them in TRS19 and TRS22.

The other possible approach is JTG xStation, where you get multiple building blocks for placing individual triggers etc. The advantage is that you can model virtually any station layout directly in Trainz. I never used this system personally, just I saw that there are dedicated AI commands, so this system may be more complex for the default Trainz AI to handle correctly (bigger risk that it would not work as expected, e.g. with Trainz Living Railroad).
