Indiana Western/Watseka&Kankakee Merge

The merge is complete. I didn't exactly follow George Fishers
instructions, but I sure am tickled with the results.

I merged the southern most tile of the Indiana Western with
the northern most tile of the Watseka and Kankakee.

The results are well worth the effort.

After re-signaling with norfolksouthern37s' searchlight signals
and lots of other minor changes, I ran from the southern most
portal of the new railroad to the Bloomington Portal.

Total... just over 67 miles.

In merging at these tiles, there were no elevation changes at all.
No texturing to cover up defects at all. In fact, on the first attempt,
I couldn't find the merge point. Should have stoped there!
The second and third merges were not quite so perfect, but darn near.

After the merge, it required just over 2600 feet of track to connect
the two railroads and one juction. I did not change the track on
either railroad.

After deleting the southern portal of the Indiana Western, that track
was extended to the merge point. A new junction was place on the
Watseka and Kankakee. From there, that track type was extended to
the merge point.

Very few splines are in the extension. Those there are required to
adjust for minor elevation changes, which where few and minor.

I did place a rail fence east to west from edge to edge to remind
myself were the merge occured. NO texturing was done anywhere
on the merge line except near the right of way itself.

Nice project indeed, and a good one to start with to learn merging.
It was too easy.

And the results...

Looking South at the merge point.

Looking north at the merge point.

Looking east at the merge point. Notice the minor elevation change here.

Looking west at the merge point. Amost no elevation change.

Look closely and you can see the base board grid at the merge line.

The merge line is almost level with the east-west line on the grid. You can
see the added junction on the Watseka and Kankakee. Bald, the engineer
in the Indiana Western Loco sits just a tad north of the merge point.

A parting shot... Thanks for looking.... Good luck on you merges!
