Importing own content to TR2009

I have made many scenery objects for TR 2006 using gmax and they work splendidly in that version.

I tried importing the same ones to tr2009 but they never install prpoerly. I get a message saying 'cannot intall because wrong kuid number in config file'.

The content I made for tr2006 NEVER showed a kuid number in the config.txt file but still worked. Anyway, I saw the kuid number that CMP in tr2009 assigned my content and opened the config file in explorer and added a kuid number and re imported it. Still the same problem. I even tried copying all of my tr2006 'local' file and merged it with tr2009 local but none of the stuff shows up. Either it doesn't appear in the selection list in surveyor tools or if it does there is no image and no object appears.

At the moment I am copying stuff from tr2009 and commiting it to tr2006 where it seems to work. But I reallly want to do it the other way around. I would love to use tr2009 but need it to accept my home grown content.

Can anybody enlighten me ?

Amazing that it worked at all in TRS2006 if you didn't give it a kuid number. You can't open an asset for editing in CMP and then simply give it a number. Open it for edit and copy the whole folder out of 'Editing' to your Desktop and then enter the kuid number in the config file. You can then drag it back into CMP to install it with the new number.

If you have never given your content a kuid number there are probably a lot of other problems with the configs though.

kuid numbers

Thanks for your quick reply.

When I made my content i made it in a folder in a 'custom directory'. The folder contained the im, gws, texture.tga and a config file. The config file simply had kind: scenery
light 0 or 1
then texture .txt files and soundscripts but NO kuid.

In CMP I imported the entire file and it was commited with no problem. Yes cmp showed a kuid number beside my asset but i never put one in the config file and it was never a problem. Of course i never tried to up load any to DLS, which probably would have been a problem.

I guess tr2009 works differently and insists on having that kuid in the config file.Bu tuntil I try to import it I don't know what th e kuid number is by which time I am getting messages about wrong kuids. TR 2006 is so simple by comparison. I can't even begin to think about takin gon content importation in TR2010 !

When you run CMP in TRS2006 and list your content, doesn't CMP show every asset with a kuid number? Everything has to have a kuid number.
