Importing into TS2012 - help please

Track Warper
I've been digging through the forums and can't find a useful description of how to important content (both downloaded and built0in) content from TS2010 into TS2012.
I did use CM v3.6 to "import" what I thought were content files from 2010->2012 but don't know how to access them when I start 2012. How do I get 2012 to notice that routes and scenarios are there?
Thanks for any help. -Walt

I would like to know this too.
I have only imported much older stuff from folders, then commited that stuff to TS12.
Is it correct thinking to import all the 2010 stuffs into TS12 then delete 2010?
Speaking as a novice: Do you suffer from a lack of commitment kozowh friend?:hehe:
CheerZ!

Use the File Import function in CM to bring the downloads in from TS2010 into TS12.

If you want your built-in routes, etc. from TS2010 to show up in TS12, copy your .ja files into the TS12.

To ensure you do not overwrite the TS12 files of the same name, call the TS2010 files, TS2010-data.ja, etc.

In the D:\Auran\TS12\Builtin, put the 1.ja through 8.ja plus any files from TS10 in there.

Once all of your TS2010 files are imported, you need to put in your CD-Key in TS212 in order for the content to show.

As always, backup your base TS12 program first before you do anything else just in case there's a glitch and you overwrite something by mistake.

Wow! thats exactly what I needed to know thank you JCitron! (John :-)
Not quite clear on the serial number thang, but a backup will ensure all is safe.
You must mean the 2010 serial number yes?

OK! copied and all prefixed all TS10 data.ja files with TS2010_ giving TS2010_1.ja etc
Copying over the renamed 8 .ja data files, 7.25gb of data....
*is quite excited... fires up TS12..
as mentioned TS10 serial number seems to be required... *finding it..
Well, the error message box tells me "not a valid serial number. check that you are entering english characters" or similar
even though I have manually typed it in there :( bummer.

Working through this and from within TS12 content manager I have initiated an "extended database repair"
which currently is recognising KUID's at a new location... fingers crossed!.... hmm only about ten..
and no 2010 routes appearing despite a rescan on startup too...

No not working. I'll keep trying to resolve it.
I will say however that one of the primary reasons for me buying Anniversary, seeing as how 2010 was
boxed with it, was to do precisely the above.

Almost got it...

The 1.ja, etc. can stay as is because the TS12 ones are called TS12a.ja, TS12b.ja, etc.

In the main folder, when you copy in the TS2010 data files, rename those to Base-TS2010.ja, and Data-TS2010.ja so that they don't overwrite the TS12 ones.

Yes, the serial number is the TS2010 one. This needs to be "registered" in TS12 in order to for the content to be active.

Sorry I wasn't clear on this. I was on my way out to play some antique pianos at the Frederick Collection. :D www.frederickcollection.org I played the 1800 Joseph Brodmann and the 1828 Bösendorfer. :D :D :mop:

Sheesh! Forget TRS for a minute! How wonderful!
Of course you wouldn't be able to play them if they were not deemed fit & tuned for tickling :)
You Sir make me extremely envious of you indeed... *throws TRS manual down at your feet.. lol, only joking!
Truly I do envy you at such an incredible opportunity :D No need for me to say "enjoy" is there.
Oh and thank you for your help.
ps: My lifes dream is to make a Harmonic piano or Harpsichord whereby nodes produce harmonics for 800 or so
notes total, (I forget my calculations now, did them when I was 20 or so and I am sure 1 or 2 may have been produced since then).

Back to TS12 - I tried all of that, to the letter, and it still says "invalid serial number/make sure you are typing in english" :(

OH
MY
GAWD!
It is working! :D This is TRS HEAVEN!

To clarify as Per Johns advice,
1, Copy all .ja from TS2010 Built-in folder no need to rename, into TS12 Built-in folder
2, Copy/paste/rename>(eg. DataTS10.ja/BaseTS10.ja) Data & Base .ja from TS2010 main folder
into TS12 Built-in folder,
3, Insert TS2010 serial number into TS12 options and upon firing TS12 it will rescan assets.
I will run an extended data base repair from TS12 Content manager just to be sure it's all ok.

Thank you John & thank you kozowh for prompting the issue! Thank you Auran/N3V!
It just doesn't get any better than this!

I have a collection of instruments at home myself, only they're not old; A Technics SXPX665, a clavichord, an Italian Virginal, a Roland C-30 digital harpsichord, and a modern grand piano. The antiques are much better! I'll be off to a concert today at the collection. I volunteer a little bit of time and resources out there in Asburnham, which is about 90 minutes from where I live. Believe me, there's quite a lack of classical music up where I live. Haverhill was once a mill town that's now a has been. The biggest things we have is a local bar and grille, and few banks. The concert halls, stores, mills, and other venues are long gone. It's a good thing we still have the railroad though.

The Frederick Collection is a unique, possibly one of a kind, private collection of instruments mostly from the 19th century. Unlike a museum, the couple allows visitors and other musicians to play on the antique instruments. It's quite fascinating, and quite a treat, to hear what Chopin's music sounds like on a piano similar to one he would have played on when he was composing his music in 1840 for example. The two instruments I played on are quite unique and quite rare. The Brodmann is the predecessor to the Bösendorfer. Ignaz studied with Josef Brodmann, and became the shop foreman at the Brodmann's shop. When Josef Brodmann passed away, Ignaz became the owner of the company, and continued the firm under his name. On Saturday I played Clementi and Beethoven on the Brodmann, and some Schubert on the Bösendorfer, which is slightly later than Schubert would have played (by a year), but is close enough to be what kind of instrument he would have heard.

Anyway, now that we've taken a siding to allow an express go by... :D ,I'm glad you all found my process useful. When I first got TS12, I too wanted to drive the Avery Drexel, among other routes, but noticed the routes weren't included. Then I got thinking... I did this when I had the Classics 1&2, which I used very briefly, so I gave it a try and it worked!

Have fun!

John
