Hi all, just joined this forum having found my way here looking for meaningful information on a project I am currently building as part of a 2mm scale model project.
Not wanting to get into the TLDR problem I;ll get right to it, Immingham locomotive shed, 40b, my own former shed tbh, What I am looking for is plans, plans and photographs of one particular structure, the automatic coaling plant that's still there though not sure for how long now.
While there are any number of photographs on the web of this monument there are none I have been able to locate after months of looking of it actually in operational condition and those that are around are distance shots giving little detail of the wagon lift machinery and having searched all available archives the only thing I can find on it is the original LNER prospectus to Henry Lee & Co requesting designs for it's construction as part of the ordering process with the only real detail being the parameter requirement for servicing a minimum of 60 locomotives per 24 hours, approx 50% of the depots allocation at the time of it's installation in the 1930's which was then approaching 120 locomotives.
Sadly little else seems to have survived time and all we are left with is this sadly decaying monument to steam, The project I am engaged in is a Photographic representation of Immingham in the period 1945/50 for no other reason that right now I can, but it must be accurate or there is no real point in doing it but this one has got me stumped tbh, Folks love locomotives obviously, but there was a lot more to them than just that and sadly little seems to really be recorded on the structures involved in there operation leaving only anecdotal evidence of there operation and little in the way of hard facts.
If anyone has anything on this structure I would be very grateful if they could get in touch.
