I would like to start a petition to Auran and the Mods

Although some moderators were in the discussions about which forums should be restored by Auran, we had no final say.

Having said that, no Auran Mod or Community Mod really wants to police threads such as the one-word game, two-word game, station games and the ever present trolling and flaming.

So while it's easy for some to say, "just don't go there", we had to...and it was everyone's spare time, not just community mods but Auran mods as well.

So if I walk in to one of the largest railroad clubs in the world, I'm there for friends, associates, and the hobby. Not to listen to someone gibbering in the corner.

It's up to Auran to restore the Off-Topic forums but I for one don't think they will. As to those who have offered to moderate that forum only, that's all fine and good until problems spread into the rest of the forums and that happened all to often in the past.

To me this looks as like it is going to an en-passe. OK lner's Photo's are good and deserve the praise they get but has anybody noticed the thread starter has not got invoved since starting this thread. Curious don't you think.

Back to the origial topic of this thread....I once started a thread for "Real Railway Photos" and after about 12 hours it was up to the 12th page when it was suddenly deleted.If it had kept up that rate it would now have a few thousand pages.Even though it was rail related, I can understand that Auran don't want this site to become a general purpose waffle board and image hosting service so its entirely up to them whether they allow or disallow non railway threads, especially if they contain large photos.So I regret to say I disagree.

Well hows that!! You try to have a civilized discussion and there are people like that who would buy trainz 3 times just so they could create havoc? I dont get it why not get one version and act responsibibly?

Another thing to consider if people want an off-topic thread, is that at some stage, a member may post a subject that some may find distressing.

My Question is "Why cant we just have one Thread in community to show wonderfull pics like LNER has posted ..and others have tried ..not a general off topic (as we all would like) but just a general pics thread There's one over in screnshots to do with modeling and everyone who posts dont always make Trainz?........."

While I'm sure that Auran reads these threads and posts of an off topic forum, in the end it's Auran's call. After all they foot the bill for these Forums. It's been my experience in my four years here that off topic Forums require a lot of Moderation which takes Moderators away from they're primary responsibilties which are to see these Forums run smoothly for the benefit of the Trainz Community.

I don't really agree with having an off topic section again. . . BUT. . . why was a member of the Auran team allowed to start an off-topic thread called "Ignore whatever-it-was" thread, AFTER he claimed that the team had been reduced to just a few people, that need to look after all the items waiting to be uploaded to the download station? It's also interesting that that thread disappeared, yet other off topics just get locked!

So I would consider this (& other posts) on topic off topic!
