I don't really agree with having an off topic section again. . . BUT. . . why was a member of the Auran team allowed to start an off-topic thread called "Ignore whatever-it-was" thread, AFTER he claimed that the team had been reduced to just a few people, that need to look after all the items waiting to be uploaded to the download station? It's also interesting that that thread disappeared, yet other off topics just get locked!

It was a gag. Perhaps Rob thought it would be a bit of fun, but never mind, it seems he was wrong.

Because "Ignore this thread, just testing forum software" was one of the great Trainz traditions (It hit over 200 pages or something on the old forums), right up there with Dukey and the infamous waffle. Since the shift to the new forum, most of these great traditions have died off.

How can this thread evade my attention?


I would of been in support of an off-topic forum, but thats when I forgot about the games involved, some clogging up systems and required the viewer to go through stupid amounts of pages with just one line. It is similar to the current screenshot forum problem, where every category has to be separate, rather than generalized.


Therefore, for the amount of time I have been here, I would be the 3rd person to go:

NO TO OFF-TOPIC FORUM!

Its going to be used and abused, so why bother?

I used to belong to the forums for Moron-i-Soft's "One Word Post" game, and remember the furor there when the community demanded a Trainz Forum. Suddenly, a game that had millions of members worldwide and was making a killing in Online Multiplayer fees found itself in an un-enviable situation. Members became so polarized by the demand, they stopped posting in other forums, and eventually the game and the community collapsed. Moron-i-Soft went on to create "Two Word Post" and the well reviewed "Three Word Post" editions, but the original players stayed away in droves, and eventually Moron-i-Soft was absorbed into IdiotInteractive. I think I.I. released "Totally Random....the Gibberish Event" not long after, but that tanked too!
