I was coming home from my weekend away when....

I saw an 0-6-0ST on the peek railway, I missed my chance to photograph it...:'(

I missed 61994 last Wednesday, my next chance is 05.00 this Saturday for 44871+45407 on their way to Inverness. 2 things against a decent photo, the time and lack of daylight.

Hi Everybody.
Me and the wife had a weekend away as well. We went up to London and watched Manchester United play Fulham. Manu never missed anything winning 2-0 and we would not have missed that for the world.

Also seen Phantom of the Opera from the best seats in the house and that is certainly something not to be missed.

Also had a cruise on the Thames which made it a great wife's birthday weekend and already being missed.

Only regret, we could not travel by train due to engineering works at Reading and the rail travel we did miss

Down here in South Florida I knew an 0-8-0 was coming up from Ft. Lauderdale enroute to Ft. Pierce so I went over to my favorite hotdog and sudz joint (which is right next to the FEC tracks) and waitied. Natch when I couldn't hold it any more and hit the bathroom it went by. My wife banged on the door so I got to see a little but at least SHE had the camera and got a shot or two. BTW apparently it is capable of running under its own power but they figured it would be far easier to tow it behind an (old looking) diesel.

Many many years ago I was taking my boys back to the ex after spending the weekend with me we saw that C&0 4-8-4 sitting on the tracks waiting for something. Fortunately my dad was with us (and he was a camera buff) so he got photos of it.

Moral of these tales - never leave home without your camera or some method of taking pics. Ya never know, lol.

Anyone who gets exicited about a saddle tank, needs intensive therapy. :hehe: :hehe:

IKB.

Steady on their IKB, I love to see the old saddle and panier Loco's being the every day workhorses of the old GWR and early Western region.

I also still get very excited at the thoughts of being in the saddle:hehe:

Trouble is, it's only thoughts these days:'(

I'm not so sure a saddle tank would get me exicted (though a 51xx surely would:hehe:) but if I ever saw Black Prince, or the running 9F on the Mid-Hants (can't recall her number) I'd jump for joy. Personally i think they just have a style about them. I'd love to buy the one still at Barry, ship it over here, and run it around my backyard (step one, get bigger backyard:hehe: :o ).

but anyway, I have my own story to tell. When i was five, i woke up at my grandparent's house to hear a low, deep fphwum-fphwum-fphwum and my parents (we lived right next door) and my grandparents shouting, "Sawyer, Get up, there's a steam engine going by!!!" Naturally, i bolted out of bed and ran outside to see a plume of smoke and hear a slightly mushy exhaust. Me and grandfather, who is as train crazy as me, got ready in under a minute and raced off after her. We caught with the rear of the chase line, but we never saw her. then we proceeded to lose her. I still regret not catching her. I still remember how disheartened i was when she steamed away. I still don't know who she was even. oh well, live and learn.

Here is one. I missed a chance to photograph the NS business train with the beautiful F Series locos, due to two incidents. First, There was a tornado warning the day it was supposed to go through, and second....It was my highschool graduation date....

Translation with Google Translate:

Post title: "I saw a sj train that went by ....."

Post text (including smileys): "I stood at the rail station Ochs when a large sj train passed me so I flew on the batch :D I landed in chewing gumi :hehe:"

Regards.

I missed Amtrak #145 (the Phase III Anniversary P42) Wednesday (8/17/2011). I was in a WB Lake Shore Limited coach when we past her sitting in the Albany Yard. Oh well, hopefully she'll come by me sometime & I can get a pic. Now all I need to catch is the Museum Train & the Phase IV Anniversary P42.

On the plus side NKP 765 is coming thru my town in the next month so hopefully I'll be able to chase it for a bit.
