I Think i am about done

Hey Dude --

That's some seriously powerful hardware you have there. I'm quite envious, but also a little perplexed that my much more modest PC runs Trainz perfectly.

"Can the game be played with 600 or 700 pieces of rolling stock and 30 to 40 locos ... "

I suspect not. With Auran's Jet game engine even a Cray would not be able to handle that.

"Every time i go and make a route the game crashes ... ."

What about the in-built routes? And routes downloaded from the Download Station? Do these work? Could it be that you are a little overambitious with your routes?

Phil
The built-in routes run fine the downloaded routes run fine
If i add some downloaded content to them like for a yard its crashes out

"If i add some downloaded content to them like for a yard its crashes out"

OK - we're making progress.

Does this also happen if you add in-built content to the in-built routes?

Try adding in-built locomotives and rolling stock. See if it crashes.

Try adding in-built buildings. Does it crash?

If it does not crash when using in-builts the real problem might be your downloads.

If it passes the above test try other downloaded rolling stock and/or buildings.

Tell us how you go.

Phil

 I Think i am about done with this crap
Trainz isn't playable. Every time i go and make a route the game crashes I have one of the fast PC that money can buy 09 sucks 06 isn't playable
I love working on the game but all these fatal errors its no fun any more is there a solution to this game .
Can the game be played with 600 or 700 pieces of rolling stock and 30 to 40 locos:'(

There is a limit... Full stop!!! Here's a couple of examples. I got carried away three months ago and started adding 100's of rolling stock, and about 30 loco's to (Philskene) Industrial Rail 8a. (great route)
I didn't modify the route in any way, I just keep adding the rolling stock & loco's. I had absolutely no problems until I got to a total of 495 rolling stock/loco's. Once I had added that many, the game regularly started to crash...
I removed 5 loco's & 10 rolling stock & from that moment onwards, I haven't had any further problems/crashes.
I had obviously reached that routes limit with that particular combination of rolling stock & loco's...

A couple of other good examples is when I reached the 2 gig limit. For my own pleasure a couple of years ago I added about another 150 k's to Razorback Classic route, (another great route) with lots of additional industries, stations, etc, etc.
I eventually got to a point where if I added anything else the game would crash. I ended up removing a station & a couple of industries and haven't had any crashes on that route since.
Same-same with Sir Gibby's incredible Murchison 2 route. For my own pleasure again I joined up all the narrow gauge 3' track (about 40ks, plus extended the NG by another 45ks) and added heaps & heaps of additional content including industries, stations, bridges, etc, etc...
I eventually got to the point where if I added anything else, the game would crash. I took off a small amount of content and haven't had a problem since.

My suggestion to you is if you want to add a lot of rolling stock/loco's to a large route, then start adding them in lots of 100's until it crashes... Eg; add 100, test it. If it's OK, add another 100, test that, then add another 100, etc, etc...
Carry on doing this until it crashes, then start removing 20 items at a time, until it stops crashing. Once it stop's crashing, you have probably reached the maximum amount of rolling stock/loco's you can add to that particular route... (with that particular choice of rolling stock/loco's)...

Another thing to remember is the size in 'megs' of the rolling stock/loco's you are adding. Eg; some of the newer loco's and steam engines are getting up to around 16-18 megs for one loco... Obviously the larger the size of each individual rolling stock/loco's, the less you will be able to put on a large route before it starts to crash.
By the way I'm running 2006 and are happy with it. (Well, content anyway)!!! I've learned to live with it's bugs. I've had from Trainz 1.3 right up to WBE. I personally like TC3 the best, but I'm to lazy to import my 2006 contents into it...
Hope this helps you understand that there is a limit, & the fact that you just can't keep adding & adding 1,000's of rolling stock/loco's to routes, (particularly large detailed ones)...
As for;
 I Think i am about done with this crap..
(What's that old saying, when the going gets tough, the tough get going)... Hang in there!!! You might be pleasantly surprised with what the future of Trainz's holds, particularly with MSTS2 dead in the water....
Cheers, Mac... :o

and scaled back about 30% shes runs fine
but lets hope that somebody could put out a rail Sim that is all most limitless

OK. So in-built is OK. Not in-built causes problems.

I be thinking that maybe one item of your downloads is faulty in some way.

Or perhaps it is a dependency, like a bogey or sound file, that might be used by several items.

Can you identify which particular locomotive or freight car causes Trainz to crash?

Phil

Hi

Can you identify which particular locomotive or freight car causes Trainz to crash? No Maybe I will try to add one at a time and see what happens
Thanks for all the help

That wouldn't be a Rail Sim, that would be a railroad and even they have limits - money, land, competition, etc.

Besides, if someone did build such a sim, I doubt you could afford to buy the machine to run it? :)

I think my machine would run it
if not the machine that makes can be bought
