Hi Everyone,

Is anyone out there in cyberspace having trouble using iPortals in Trainz 2012 (v6138) as I just cannot get them to work?

For some reason my i-Portals will just not go on line although they work perfectly in TR 2010 and and TR 2012 v49922

Is there another way to move consists to other routes? Any suggestions welcome!

They work fine for me and my group of friends. Make sure you have the TS12 compatible version and if you have the TS2010 asset pack installed it will break the TS12 version.

Hi Ken,

Thanks for your reply. The iPortal that I have came with the package as a built in item and I cannot archive it and re -download. Have you any idea where I can download the TS12 compatible version please... I don't think that I have the TS2010 asset pack installed unless it comes with such as the Murchison 2 pack!

Thanks for interest though!

The TS12 version is on the DLS, just search for iPortal you should be able to find it. Also the TS2010 content pack is part of TS2010, it will ask to install it if you have TS12 installed and try to install TS2010.

Edit you will need this item on the DLS
iPortal library TS12 <kuid2:30671:90003:2>

Hi Ken

Thanks for your reply

I already have the following in my content and they all checkout as OK but I still cannot get the iPortal to work.
and Ctl+Rmouse still responds with a red on-line button - (should be green)

Library <Kuid2:30671:90003:1>
Basic <Kuid2:30671:23501:1>
Tunnel <Kuid2:30671:23500:1>
Sign <Kuid2:30671:69013:1>

I have tweaked my firewall just in case, no change! - so I don't know where yo next. I have wasted far too much time already. Short of a complete re-install or go back to 49922 which I don't fancy doing.

Anyway I thank you for your efforts

This problem is driving me nuts..... after a lot of thought I have re-installed TS2102 up to v49922 made a test route using iPortals and it works perfectly. when I save this test route to cdp and move it to v61388 it no longer works. I am now at a complete loss. I have also upgraded v49922 (that this test was prepared in) to v61388 and the iPortals no longer work! I can't believe that no one else has had this problem....

Tried to move my lovingly developed humpyard back to v49922 - wow that is some problem!

Getting fed up now. Life is too short!

Hi Old Bill,

If you believe there is something wrong here, i.e. a bug caused by a service pack, send in a report to the helpdesk. They will respond back with some questions and have you confirm the issue and hopefully will have a fix for it, or a suggestion on how to fix your problem.

John

Hi OB. Ken said that you need Library <Kuid2:30671:90003:2> whereas you state that you are using Library <Kuid2:30671:90003:1>.

Is this the problem?

Cheers - Trevor

Edit: My brain is also not working that well. Sorry for the mistakes, Ken. Now corrected.

Hi Guys
Thanks for replies,

You are quite right I have incorrectly stated <Kuid2:30671:90003:1> rather than <Kuid2:30671:90003:2> blame my age!

I have
<Kuid2:30671:90003:2> but when I look at the configuration file for iportal basic <Kuid2:30671:23501:1> it references <Kuid2:30671:90003:1> if I try to edit it to reference <Kuid2:30671:90003:2> it won't allow me to change it.

I tried to clone it and incorporate the change I am again told that I am not allowed to do so!

Great fun - I will keep trying!

Actually I was referring to asset <kuid2:30671:90003:2> "iPortal library TS12" I do not know what asset Kuid2:60671:90003 is as it is not installed on my system and I am not sure who author #60671 is. All the iPortal assets I use are by LLJ #30671

OB, have you tried the regular portals, Portal and Portal Basic?

Cheers - Trevor

I have the opposite problem I sometime get 2 or more of the same train and maybe even a day later. Have you tried sending a train to yourself? Also are the iPortals configured for internel or network?

Thanks for all your efforts out there in Trainz land.

Trevor - yes I have successfully

Ken - To myself only, configured to own computer

As it was not a nice day yesterday (Sunday) at 06:00hrs I started to install and raise to v 61388 a new TS12 on my computer. I went to bed and it was still patching. This morning (Monday) it was finished, I tried it out and created a new route with portals which work (surprise!) of course they won't transfer trains to my earlier routes or to routes on a copy of v 49922 so I will have to move my layouts to this new installation (It will be a long job!)

I have switched auto downloads off in this new copy as I suspect that auto downloaded S&C or Murchison might have been the original cause of the problem.. I'm not clever enough to verify this!

I cannot understand why the portals showed up as built in items in the previous installation but I had to download them for this new installation.

Anyway thanks to all of you for your interest in my problems!

Glad to hear you got it working, I suspected some asset messed it up but like you said finding it would be the proverbial "needle in a hay stack". PM me if you ever decide to do some internet iPortaling.

Hi Ken,

The idea of a game is to play with it! I have just realised that I have been messing around with TS12 for about 4 weeks now and am little nearer to developing my latest route. It seems that there could be several versions of v.61833 around now! I find that routes that worked in the version that the iPortals did not do not work in my latest installation where the iPortals do!

Hi all Trainzers,

In August last year (2014) I started this thread reporting that my iPortals had suddenly stopped working. I eventually resolved this problem by reinstalling and updating TS2012 from scratch and transferring my current route over - took about four weeks from start to finish.- heaven knows I spend too much of my life on Trainz as it is -
Now much to my surprise the same thing has happened again. In Driver my iPortals (Ctl-RMC) show up as red (should be green) and fail to transfer any trains between my layouts - trouble is that my routes are inter linked using iPorts. (the symptoms are exactly as I recorded last year)

Earlier in this thread I speculated that either Murchison or Settle to Carlisle could have caused the problem so I did not download them when I reinstalled.

I recently purchased the Chinese Container package and switched on the auto download but forgot to reject Murchison and S&C packs! Now I am back to square one!

My question is - is anyone successfully using iPortals with Murchison and/or S&C installed ?

Does anyone know where trains in transit between iPortals are buffered/stored?

Please, Please if you have any suggestions as to how I can restore this assett without going through the whole installation process again I would be most grateful.

Trainz - Too serious to be a game - not serious enough to be a profession!

I use iPortals all the time (in TRS2006) but I have no knowledge of their workings in 10 and 12 versions.

All I know is that they require STW (SwedishTrainz Works) drive rule ... and once they are moved, they require reconfiguring all the entries using the " ? " button.

And a train is uncontrollable, until the last car exits the iPortal, as they have no driver until then.

I try not to use AI, as it always fouls things up ... and I configure iPortals so that trains stop once exiting the iPortal, and wait for manual control

Hi cascaderailroad

Thank you for your interest in this matter. However I have never had this problem with TS2006/2009/2010 or whilst I was running TS 2012 v4922. I have only TS2012 v.61833 and TS2010 running on my computer at this time and iPortals work perfectly on TS2010. They did so on TS2012 until recently and I suspect that something I downloaded upset them.

Thanks again
Old Bill
