I give up...

A week ago TS12 arrived through the letterbox.

I installed it and after downloading 1 patch have now reached build 46957.

now I receive regular messages about my software being out of date, so I downloaded the hot-fix patch, but it won't update my installation.

I now have a game which will forever remind me that I must download a patch that won't work on my game.

can anyone explain the anomaly?????

.. and if it won't update you might need to click the 'Browse' button on the updater and point it specifically at your trainz .exe file.....

Another snippet of info, once you've started patching don't run anything else until it's finished, also if you think it's stopped patching it's not. Leave it alone until it tells you it's completed.

Hello chelmerville,

Stormboy1992 had also a patch failure issue. His issue was a bit complexed, but in the end, all patches could be done.

You can read his thread here : http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?91147-Patch-failure&highlight=patch+failure

Before starting - be sure you have a backup of your trainz installation.

Perhaps, his thread has the solution for you. I advice you to read his complete thread, and perhaps take some notes as of post #31. Shane's post #42 will probably be the solution. If not, then you have to check the elements which are written in post # 37,38 and 43.

Good luck.

Best regards

I'm also thinking that there may be a run as admin issue present here as well.

In terms of patching, it is imperative that you install the correct patch (if you are unsure, try the automatic patcher - to use this, make sure your username and password are entered in the Trainz Options box, then click Patch Trainz at the bottom of that box and follow the instructions.

I'm just new at this, and can give no advice. I had to re install TS12. On the re install everything was pretty much done by TS 12. I was told that 2 update patches were available, and asked if I'd like to have them installed now. both patches were installed. I have my "user account" turned off, maybe not a good idea, but no problems so far. I have a look at Shane's tutorials before I try anything new, just in case he has some info about it. The guys here are great and several of them have really helped me out a lot. Don't give up, once you get over the first few humps, you're going to love it! Then you will have a ton of things to learn! I think even the "pros" are still learning and coming up with new ideas everyday!

Cheers.......Rick

Hmm...after seeing all the editions of trainz you have, maybe you're already a "pro"!
