When you get a chance, can you please tell me the name of the tracks you are using, maybe you can send them to me because those look like some good wooden ties. How far north have you gotten on both sides of the Hudson?

The track is called HR4 WLGray A by nortsen <kuid:48268:38197>. It can be found here: www.trainz.hu.

The site is in Hungarian so click on the British flag for English, register, go to the downloads page, then the Track page, and download the HO TTrack Pack. It's in there. There's also a very useful manual for the track pack you can download.

I'm just south of Bear Mountain Bridge at the mo.

Cheers,
Fred

Man, you don't know how happy you made me. . This track is spectacular. And they don't look like they are fps killers:D . Now, I can't wait to really build the Metro North Railroad once I get around the Yonkers Area. Right now, I am at the abandoned 59th street station for the Metro North Railroad in trainz. For now, I will continue using mp track wood and concrete.

Yes...it's a nice track pack that's friendly on framerates. The manual is very good too. :)

I can't believe this track was released for trainz service pack 3. I am impressed even though I never had that build of trainz before. the track pack came with around 35 tracks but I deleted all of them except this specific one. I also just got the tracks made by tundra. They look like a dark wood or gravel version of the mp track.

George Fisher made it for me. It's on the DLS. You have to change the first digit in the config file by cloning it and renaming it. The second one can be changed in Surveyor. So it's renameable to a degree. It's called "Metro North Mile Post" by gfisher. I changed it to "Metro North Mile Post 40" by cloning it and writing in a 4 into the config file for the top number, and then saved it. Then, in Surveyor, I clicked on it, after placing it on the track, and put "1" in the pop-up menu. So now, from mile 40 to 49, all I have to do is change the bottom digit in the pop-up menu in Surveyor. It's very cool. Thanks, George. You're a genius. :)

Cheers,
Fred

P.S. If I want to go from milepost 50 to 59 I would have to clone it again and change the first digit to a 5 in the config file and save it as "Metro North Mile Post 50". In other words, it's good for 10 miles at a time.

It's all about the details. :D

Man, my laptop can't wait to get it's hands on this route. Just out of curiosity, the time that you started this project until now, have you gotten any fatal errors?

Well...to begin with...I wouldn't recommend trying to run this route on a laptop. I don't. The only times I've had a crash was due to a problem with my video drivers. For awhile, it was crashing when I took too many screenshots close together. After updating my vid drivers, however, it stopped. It's never crashed while just running it in Driver or working on it in Surveyor.

Cheers,
Fred

I wouldn't say that. I don't know if you know about this but there is a program out there called gamebooster. It is designed in a way to improve the fps with PC games, and make the games smoother, and increase performance. I downloaded it, and I am seeing some really good results.

I mean you no offense malikrthr, but Fred has been working on this route for quite some time now. As such, and seeing how he has been working in the Trainz medium for a long time; he certainly cannot help but have a fairly comprehensive knowledge of his route's requirements, both soft and hardware. He's experimented with all those gaming resource freeing programs over the years, and you can more than likely trust his judgement when discussing the running of his route.

Just for the record; there's no love between us; but I do know him for the craftsman that he is.;)

His work is a true piece of art. I really admire his work. I think most people that have started their projects around the time he did, probably have gave up on it, long ago. And he is still going at it. I really admire what he has done.

Hi,

Oh my god,

It all looks fantastic Fred, some fantastic scenery.

Thanks joaomtc. It's a work in progress and hasn't been released. I've been working on it for over 4 years and am just now getting to the good part. :)

Cheers,
Fred
