That's true, Ed. The Hudson isn't all that clear though...a bit murky...so I used a dark texture throughout. I think it works pretty well. Near the banks...it gets blended with the riverbank textures, which essentially gives the same effect as using a lighter texture near the shore. You can also adjust the color of the water to get the effect you want. Other factors that have an effect on the hue of the water are the time of day, of course, and...the sky you happen to be using. Changing the sky does lots of neat stuff to the feel of a route...gives it variety.
Do those boats actually drive on the river ? You could set them on a never ending continious loop of track and have them going up and down the river in the background. That last shot is great enough to use as a desktop background screen on my PC...GREAT ROUTE !
Some of the boats are driveable...some not. There are invisible tracks for driveable boats in the river. I'm going to place portals at the ends of them that, hopefully, will emit and accept driveable boats. I haven't tried it yet...but...if it works for trains on tracks...why not driveable boats on invisible tracks?
This one looks good too. I still like the first one a lot. Maybe because it had that little part sticking out from the middle for signals/emergencies. Reminded me of that movie...I can't remember the title, where the kids cross the bridge and have to hustle to get across in time before the train comes (with a very small Will Wheaton)
Hmmmm...would that be the movie "Run, Will, Run!"...no...that's not it...I think it's "Stand By Me".
There were two problems with the previous one. Andy pointed out one problem...which I could have fixed...but that still left the fact that it didn't look anything at all like the bridge that's actually here. This one doesn't either, but it will have to do until something else comes up. Nothing I've been able to find in Trainz does.
Perhaps I could sweet talk Ben into trying it... Yeah...I know...Tom Sawyer again.
Cool. I thought it was stand by me but I thought I was confusing it with the song...
Excellent shot as always. I really like this route because it has mountains, bridges, a river, marshes...lots of eye candy to look at. I hope I'll be able to ride those rails in real life someday and I hope I'll be able to drive on them someday (in trainz) too! :hehe:
