howto export textures from gmax?

Ive been following a tutorial to build a simple loco. When I did it in 3ds max 2012 I had a lot of problems with it. So I decided to redo it in gmax. Now I have exported the mesh and I need to export the textures. According to the tutorial I am supposed to ...
" go to the "Utilities" tab and select the "More" button. In the window that appears select the "Resource Collector" it should automatically appear in one of the slots in the "Utilities" menu."
My problem is that there is no "utilities tab" in gmax 1.2. So how do I export the textures?

Thanks
Antony

The Resource Collector is in the Utilities tab, the one with the hammer icon. It's the third button down. Make sure the output path points to the location where the source files of the object are located, .gmax, etc and then click on Begin at the bottom of the tab.

You can also just copy the textures that are used in the object to the folder where the object files are saved. I have a texture folder that contains all the textures I have found and created over the years and object folders that contain the source files for all my objects. Each object folder contains all the files needed by the object, IM, textures, scripts, etc.

ok one problem solved and another crops up. Ive now successfully gotten a loco from gmax into trainz. It runs fine but looks awful. I know the graphics supplied were not brilliant - thats not the problem. A couple of them appear crisp and correct but the vast majority are a mixture of the graphic and black. They are constantly jigging about and unstable.
My presumption is that the graphics are of a very low resolution. Though Im unsure of this as all the graphics are on a single file and some are ok. Can anyone confirm or correct this? Or give me another explanation as to why this is happening?
