how to walk around the cab

i was looking around the fourms and saw post about people asking how to make it to where you can walk around the cab
is there a tutorial on how i can do it somehow i want to walk around my passenger coaches and locomotive cabs

I believe adding the line -freeintcam in your trainzoptions.txt file will allow you to do that. Don't quote me on that, it's just a whim, and I haven't messed with that in a while. Usually I only mess with the FOV and take out the clickity clack sounds so they aren't so annoying.

If a railcar has no interior, you can't ride inside it ... unless you added an interior to the railcar config file

In the trainzoptions file add the line"

-freeintcam

If you have no trainzoptions file, someone here can tell you how to make it in notepad, and where to place the text file

You can also do it by selecting 'in cab view' and then using your mouse and the [ ] keys to move around a bit.

For example, if I have installed it on the E drive, I'd browse to E:\Trainz\UserData. Once there, right click > New > New Text Document.

Notepad will open. Type -freeintcam

Save it with the filename trainzoptions and you're done.

Is there a video of someone using this? I would like to see what it looks like before I do it.
Using what? The freeintcam? It basically allows you to move freely around the cab. I haven't used it in a while, but I think it is either the right clicker and moving the mouse around or using the arrow keys that will allow you to do this once you have it in the trainzoptions file.

Controls for "Out of cab experience"

An added refinement is to hold the Ctrl button whilst using the described square bracket keys then you can snap immediately to the next view, as an alternative to the default “glide” between views.

Yes. That’s right.

With the mouse hold RMB and rotate the mouse to view at any lateral and/or vertical angle. The viewpoint is essentially at the centre of a globe.

You can also use the PageUp and PageDown arrows to gain or lower the height of your viewpoint. You can go really high if you want, although it's fairly slow progress. Take care, though, if you go underground when everything will turn pale blue and be very disorientating. If this happens, look up and find the sky to get your bearings when you should also see some assets and a disembodied view of the loco you have moved from (if you haven’t moved too far away). You should also see the rails of the track without the sleepers (ties) or ballast. All will re-appear correctly when you PageUp to resurface, except for the loco which will always appear as a disembodied cut down version; (it’s really only intended to be viewed from the cab). All other rolling stock, including all the other locos, will appear OK. It’s only the loco being driven that behaves in this way.

In addition, you can move laterally as far away from the cab view as you want using the four arrow direction keys. Use simultaneous mouse movement for very precise placement. Great for framing screenshots.

Finally there is a great magnification feature. Roll the mouse wheel for an impressive zoom. I think it is around x10.

I seem to remember reading that on Mac, or was it Ipods ... that the words -freeintcam get erased by the OS, and never take hold ... Shoulda' got a real PC :hehe:

I tried adding the -freeintcam to trainzoptions.txt on a mac, and nothing happened. A little help?

I'm sorry but the Mac version cannot have its trainzoptions file edited. It will always erase the changes and revert the file to its original state. So far a way around this has not been found.

Kieran.

I got the computer before I had trains. Who decided that the mac one shouldn't be able to be edited, it just doesn't make sense.

That would be: Steve Jobs, who decided dat'

In the beginning, all I had was a magnifying glass, that we used to burn red ants wit' it, and eat saltine crackers. Skipped rocks across the pond, and threw rocks at hornets nests. Summers were hot, and completely boring, and winters were snowy ... then I got a Radio Flyer wagon, roller skates, a hard rubber tire bicycle, then I got a Tandy 3 1/2" reel to reel tape recorder, then I got a 500X microscope, then 45rpm records, then an 8 track player, then LP records, then a cassette recorder, then a VCR, then a CD recorder, then a DVD recorder, then WEB TV, then a real PC (Windows Vista) ... then I got Trainz ... and -freeintcam worked perfectly on that :hehe: Thanks to Bill Gates
