i know it may be a bit silly but can any one tell me where i can find or edit track info or items that lets me set diffirent speed for diffirent sections of the track in ts2006?

i had been trying to find any help in both manual hard copy and pdf as well as the boards for about 2 days and i still have no luck...:'(

When you click track there are three buttons. Click the middle one, which I believe says "track objects". That is where the speed signs are. Scroll to one you like and click the track where you want it a sign should now be there.

Also notice that when the speed change is lower then posted i.e. 40 to 20 when the train hits the sign it will be effected to the slower speed. But when its faster i.e. 30 to 55 the speed change will only take effect after the last car has passed the sign.

Don't the speed stakes change the speed, up or down, when the loco passes the stake?

I don't think so unless you manually decrease your speed to below the one posted on the board, lets say if I was driving a 2-6-0 mogul type steam engine with a freight train behind it,the limit, while i'm looking above the DCC controller, reads a 40 mph limit and by going at a low speed reduces the chance for a derailment!;)

Good plan. I'll have to check that out because when I took my train (consisting of about 140 cars with 2 diesel units) on a test run, I was ok for a while at 40mph speed limits - - until I crossed over this one Junction (even though I crossed over previous Junctions without incident) and that's when the speed limit took a sharp nose dive. As a result, I had to throttle down to the point where my train ended up creeping at 15mph. I had Green Signal Over Red Signals - but the speed limit remained at 15mph. I can understand crossing switches by sidings and things at a 15mph restriction speed. But crawling at 15mph down long stretches of track when I know there's no opposing train ahead?? Maybe it's the some of the signals I picked.. But I'll try out those Speed Signs.

When you say "the speed limit took a sharp nose dive", do you mean that the actual speed of the train suddenly dropped unexpectedly or the speed limit indicator on the HUD (top right of screen) suddenly dropped?

A sudden and unexpected speed reduction by the train to about half the HUD displayed speed limit or less is usually an indication that the AI has detected a problem ahead such as a stop or caution signal. The distance to that signal can be as much as several kilometres. I have always maintained that the "I" in "AI" does not actually stand for "Intelligence".

If this is the case then the solution to this old problem has been to place an invisible signal just ahead (e.g. a few hundred metres) of the next signal.

Yes, my speedometer unexpectedly went from 40mph to 15mph without warning. I didn't see the Speed Limit Indicator on the top right corner of the screen - Not sure why it wasn't visible in my Session. Is there an option to select in the Session to make it visible? Ok, I'll go for the Invisible Signal several hundred Feet away or so. Are there any options on that Invisible Signal I need to be aware of, or do I just place it down and that's all I need to do?

Invisible signals are simply "set and forget" - just place it, make sure it is facing the correct way and leave it.

Ok, it seems that I didn't need to use an invisible signal after all. Turns out that the Trackside Speed Signs work perfectly. The Speedometer switches to whatever the Speed Sign says.
