How to make a PERMANENT adjustment to height of asset

I am messing around with some of the new Speedtrees and I found a small tree asset that I want to clone and set the height lower than it already is so when it is "planted" in Surveyor it is always at the lower height. Does that make sense? If so...how do I accomplish this? I was able to clone the asset and rename it "Underbrush a1". That is the first time I have ever cloned an asset. What else can I do with it?

This is only for MY use and will NOT be uploaded to CM...I don't even know how to do that!!

Bummer...that didn't work. I get the error message "Failed to commit changes to asset...due to file access error". Now I will just have to place the asset and manually lower to the height I need. It's a lot of extra work but, it is what it is.

Thanks.

If you are doing this in T:ANE ensure that Trainz its self is at the Routes Menu or is closed prior to attempting to commit an asset open for edit. I found this out the hard way myself yesterday.

I would try this again. You're not quite out of the woods on this one yet. :hehe:

That error is associated with the way you made the change - not the change itself. It is caused by opening the asset for editing while it was part of a route that you were editing. You will probably have to start over. Make sure only a CM window is open (not the game itself, and not surveyor). Delete the asset. Do a database repair (it's very quick). Import that asset, and re-do the edit.

This is quite a change from TS12, where you could work on assets in CM and in game at the same time, just restarting the game to incorporate any changes. You can't do that with T:ANE - the route should not be opened while you make any changes to assets it uses.

The problem seems to be that after submitting the edit, when I go back into the config file to check it, the change that I made has disappeared.

Success ! I went back in and took out all the other "seasons" except for Summer (I don't like winter scenes anyway) and the asset is now at the proper height.

Thanks for all the help.
