How to find a missing dependency that states "Was not found on the download store"

I have seven assets labeled "Packaged, Newer version available", but they aren't. They have been up-versioned into some other package and are not available at all.
Ditto here. Over the years that list has shrunk as creators have (eventually) released the "up-version" to the DLS but then has grown again as other DLC "Packaged, Newer version [NOT] available" assets have appeared.

Love when these questions get posted and then the Op doesn't come back to check their post
...or even acknowledge any suggested solutions that have been posted - even negative ("That did not work") responses can be useful.

I have 11 assets which show as either 'Packaged', 'Packaged, Newer version available', 'Packaged, Newer version available , Payware'
or 'Packaged, Payware'
From what I have been able to obtain from N3V, these were all up-versioned for Trainz Mobile 3 but managed to break the obsolete mold.
So I am stuck with them until the owners update them and up-version them for TRS22PE.
I use the following filters in CM - Installed=true, Out of Date=true & Obsolete=false to see these.

My 2c worth.

... they would have a nice chance to find their content labelled as "Payware" or "Packaged", forcing the users to purchase/download one or more routes they would never be interested in a million years. As an alternative, they would find their content "updated" by N3Vs (without ever bothering to ask the author's permission, of course).
Is that any worse than the assets and routes on Trainz italia going missing in action for several years ? And the earlier versions of some truly great routes no longer being available at all ? , I was somewhat inconvenienced by this as I had paid $50 for a lifetime membership only to find that the entire site had vanished into the ether. . I have a website on music festivals that has 20,000 items have I had to re-upload due to server issues several times, I've made sure that it cant be offline for such a long period of time, even though its a free site. .
There is no ideal solution, but at least the chances of the DLS disappearing for a number of years is far less than hosting kuids on independent web sites.

Probably scared him/her away....

:ROFLMAO: And the pure truth is that I was only trying to offer the one and only Saint Google solution to his/her problem... :ROFLMAO:

Hi there,

Fortunately -because so we are many more- there are asset creators (blessed all of them!) who decided not to upload them into the DLS. What we do is to include an explicit list of kuids on every release so that Saint Google can spot them on the 'Net.

An instance:

...

First step when something is not on the DLS: Do some googling!

Hope it helps. Have a great day!

The googling side of Alberte :D

That is the main reason why I refuse to use assets from external independent web sites. Over the years I have seen several vanish from the Internet taking all their assets with them. If I had used any of their assets in a route/session I had uploaded to the DLS then I would likely be getting the "hate mail" from angry users who could not locate the missing assets.

Only once can I recall ever seeing one such site upload all their assets to the DLS before they "pulled the plug".

You're right, I got the game and my pc like 2 weeks ago. I'm still trying to figure it all out man!
@LastG_N64 - Welcome to the weird, fun, enchanting and frustrating world of Trainz !

Post questions re: the sim, as they arise. You'll get alot of community help, as well as some razzing, friendly (usually? LOL) smacktalk. Useless advice, good advice, pedantic rivet counting, and so much more ! 😊 👌 ✌️ 🍻 🤙

I don't have it and could not find it. Hopefully someone can tell you about it. You may also be able to right-click the original asset and select Open - Edit Config.txt file. Then find that KUID and see what it is for. If it is a bogie, a horn sound, an engine spec or some other similar item there are lots of substitutes you should be able to use.

Not even Google could find it.

The user ID code 840120 belongs to a user named "JScout" who has never posted any messages in these forums and has never uploaded any assets to the DLS (DownLoad Station).

My conclusion is that the asset probably came from an independent web site that no longer exists. Another good example of why I do not use any assets from independent web sites.

I found several kuids of his on trainzland. All looked to be clones/reskins/modified libraries of other Trainzers work for TTTE.

That particular kuid though... nope

Translations:
TTTE = Thomas The Tank Engine.
"clones/reskins/modified libraries of other Trainzers work" = a high chance that they are plagiarized or pirated works. I could of course be wrong and they were all made with the full permission of the original creators but posting clones/copies only on a 3rd party web site does look suspicious

This rabbit hole goes so much more deeper than I thought it would in all honestly, like bro this stuff is crazy

True, but the vast majority of Trainz users respect the rights and intellectual property of other creators. There is no problem with users cloning and modifying the work of others as long as it is for their own private use. It is a small minority who think that it is OK to post their unauthorised modifications for others to use. When it happens on the DLS the plagiarised work is quickly removed after confirmation from the original creator that it is unauthorised.

Unfortunately there are a few web sites based in countries that are outside the reach of international law that act as repositories for pirated and plagiarised Trainz assets.

Putting all that aside, creators are free to choose to post their work, or not, and where to post it (the DLS or not). Unlike some simulators, no-one is forced to post all their work on the official company web site and contributions are open to all users, not just to an elite few.
