How old are you?

G'day!

Nineteen here! Came across Trainz in 2006 while browsing for SimCity in Harvey Norman. I then went on to buy the Trainz Collection, TC 1,2 and 3. TS2009 and then TS12.

Cheers!

Jake.

I was in I think second grade when I got 1.3 (US 1.0) out of a scholastic book fair magazine. Still got the jewel case somewhere around here...

I'm 36 years old, and I've been interested in Trainz since the very first version was released back in 2001 (although I bought my copy of Trainz between the release of the Community Edition and the official retail release in 2002), so I was just under 26 when I got my first copy, and I haven't looked back since.

I can't remeber when I discovered Trainz, maybe 6 or 7. Played the first game, loved, absolutely loved it! Then I went to Ultimate Trainz Collection, and then TRS2004, TRS2006, when I was 10 (maybe younger) I recieved Trainz - The Complete Collection, all of which I played on a Windows XP. I recieved TS2009 on Christmas '09, which I played on our new Windows Vista, which about 2 years later recieved a virus. I had to resort to my Windows XP, which ran everything great except for barely running TS2009. A couple years later, that one recieved a virus as well. And for the longest time it seemed, I was stuck with only a Mac, and was in a panic. I then discovered a program that could run TRS2006 on the Mac, and then later discovered Trainz Simulator: Mac, which I didn't get but really wanted to. I then bought the Trainz Simulator: iPad that same year (2011), which I thought was fun, a pretty good version for the iPad. But, then a miracle struck. My dad recieved some Walmart credit, about $500 dollars worth. I thought it was too good to be true, but then I persuaded him to buy a new Windows, and it worked. We bought a Windows 7, that to this day still works wonders. I played Railworks for a VERY long time before deciding to pull out my Trainz - The Complete Collection. Later that year, I re-downloaded Trainz Simulator 2010: Engineers Edition that I bought but didn't get to play for a very long time before my Windows XP was struck by a virus. I later bought Trainz Simulator 12 off of Steam for a discount price, in which I have over half my Trainz's installed on my Windows 7.

Thank you for taking the time to read my Trainz story. As I am typing this message, it is 1:00 in the morning, and it is my Birthday, and I am 14 years old. :)

Best regards,

Carter

I had just retired in 2006 at the ripe age of 53. I didn't have the room to enjoy my beloved hobby of model railroading any longer, so on my birthday, I was strolling through Best Buy looking for a copy of MSTS when I saw a Trainz 2004 box on the shelf. After reading the box, I decided to purchase Trainz instead of MSTS. I've never regretted that decision. Although I don't have the time to play Trainz or create much anymore. it's still something that I enjoy and still visit the forum practically everyday just to keep up on things although I don't post much nowdays.

Mike

PS: Just want to say hi to everyone. Sorry that I haven't been around lately.

I am 54. Some years ago I was playing Railroad Tycoon II. One of the famous mapmakers for RT II was Ceebee. Suddenly he changed to a obscure program, called Trainz. :hehe:
Some times later a tried a demo for Trainz, but I was not overwhelmed. You could not place you consists free on the rail, but you had to place it on a trackmark (that is why old maps had such a lot of trackmarks).
The first Trainz I bought was TRS 2004 and since then I have been faithful to Trainz, except a short infidelity to SpoorSim.

Pre-ordered trainz 1.1 back in early 2002. Over a decade later somehow I'm still here... hell, that's half my lifetime.

William :)

Fifty three I think. You know you're over fifty when you find yourself typing out the word, instead of just using the numbers. When I started with Trainz there were no CDP's... you had to call another person on the telephone and tell them word for word what to type in the files, and mail them a picture of the graphics!

Fifty-one here. I started with TRS2004 back in late 2004 early 2005. I once had a substantial N-gauge setup, but due to various reasons the layout became more of a junk collector for spiders to live in and less of a model railroad. Around the same time, I was using MSTS but was very frustrated with the route editor. That was one convoluted and confusing program that crashed randomly whenever something was clicked. One day I purchased Auran's add-on for MSTS at CompUSA. I visited www.auran.com and was quite surprised by the vibrant community. I tried the early demo version, but it wouldn't run properly on my old computer. I kept following the program developments while lurking on the forums. I remember the early posts by Greg Lane, Rob Shaw, and many others. The excitement from the developers kept me interested, and one day the announcement for TRS2004 came out. I waited for the in-store copies to show up in CompUSA, and I haven't looked back.

I'm 46. It's not the age, it's the mileage. My odometer says I'm 92.

Dave.......

No doubt Dave, I got the same odometer:hehe: I'm old enough to remember the Milwaukee Road and BN dominating the Pacific Northwest, old enough to remember when freight still ran through Roy, McKenna, Yelm, and Bucoda, WA...... Those lines are all trails now. I'm old enough to remember boxcars hauling freight manufactured in the US and not intermodal from overseas.......... Trainz has no age requirement - we range from 8-80!!

Hey! I'm 13 as well! My first train sim was MSTS 2004 and i got that at age 6, then to Trainz 2006, Then TS12. So I have known how to drive a full scale train since i was 6 or 7 years old. Trainz will never get old. ;)

66 years over here - and I will carry on with trainz as long as I can! I remember hearing the steam trains from Apperly Bridge when laying in bed on Sunday mornings - they seemed to have a hard time getting up the hills there...

...I remember hearing the steam trains from Apperly Bridge when laying in bed on Sunday mornings...

Would that be Apperley Bridge near Bradford, West Yorkshire ? (I used to moor my narrowboat there) I can't find an Apperly Bridge in Norway on Google maps.

42 years end of this year and still the oldest 12 yr old in my town. My wife wishes one day I may grow up, but she is dreaming it is never going to happen.

Started with Trainz 2006, but was around the release of Trainz 2009, I had both versions bought for me, as my main PC was dead and old one would not run 2009, so wife got me 2006 as well (which I prefered to be honest). Now using Trainz 2012 and loving every minute of it. My wife enjoys playing an MMO casually and I refuse to come play now days as I have more fun spending time in Trainz than paying some MMO $15 a month for lesser enjoyment. Even my kids are getting into Trainz, though that are still little ones (6,4 and 3 respectively).

Cheers

Trent

16 and lovin life/ parties etc. I got into trainz when I saw trainz 2006 in a modelrailroader magazine, but I don't have the original account because my dad was the one who started it, and he lost the username, email, and password a little while after I had got trainz 2009

Some times later a tried a demo for Trainz, but I was not overwhelmed.

I remember when I found the UTC demo.......... I was looking for game demos and stumbled across it. I actually liked it right off the bat, and I followed that by getting TRS: The Complete Collection. That completely hooked me and i've never looked back since.
