How many trains can run on one track

I have created a route with a couple of airports on it. The issue I have is that it will only carry one plane on each track, ie 2nd plane won't take off until the 1st plane has landed, it's a fairly large route, is there anyway to reduce the distance trains can be apart on one track.

You need to use invisible signals spaced out so that the planes don't "run on the yellows" and time your planes so that they don't take off behind each other.

Yes but you don't want the aircraft to stall and come to a complete stop at an invisible signal placed on the invisible track line.
Maybe a caution (invisible yellow) to slow down the aircraft.
I put track direction markers (so that the plane wont reverse in the air) and speed limiters at certain heights and positions along the track.
Helicopters (choppers) can hover at a stop signal along the line.
