How long for SP1 to patch?

I downloaded the SP1 for TS12. It's been patching for almost six hours. I've read through the forum that the patch may take a while, but is this normal? My computer is a newer model running Windows 7. Please note that I have no desire to start a flame war on the SP1! I just would like to know if six or more hours is normal. If not, how do I abort without messing up TS12? Thanks! :D

Why is a mouse when it spins? Because the faster it spins the fewer.

Which is my way to say. Time varies, wildly, how much content you have is ONE factor, but there also seem to be others that are a mystery.

I don't think you can abort it once it's starts.

It's supposed to do a database repair and I've heard of those taking 15 hours.

Good Morning dragenrider
The SP1 update can take several hours, up to 7-9 hours in many cases, and sometimes a little longer.

You can check if the update is still actually running by going to Windows Explorer (or My Computer), then going to the Trainz folder on your computer. In the Trainz folder, please open the folder named 'builtin'. Now over a minute or so, hit the F5 key a few times (e.g. every 20 seconds). If the file size of one of the '.ja' files is increasing, then the update is still being installed.

Regards

It is my understanding that you should not have run Trainz at all, prior to a patch, and there are at least 2 of your files, that can be pre-copied, and transplanted into your patched version.

And that your antivirus should be temporarily disabled during the patch.

And your PC should be left undisturbed overnight, and a perhaps part of the next day.

Never cancel a patch as this will require a total re-install of Trainz.

Perhaps I am all wrong on this ?

Whew! That's great information! I went and checked the files and I see the file sizes increasing. That's a relief. The patch is in progress. Thank you for posting that information, Zec. :D Now I have to be patient for a while.
