How dumb is trainz and CM3.7???

This is a usefull thread. I came here looking to buy the latest Trainz. After reading this mess I see how unwise it would be to put my money at risk. As for subscribing to T2, like every sane person, I will wait for the reviews because one cannot trust the developers to produce a working product. Sad but true. Meanwhile there are other train simulators and the main competition continues to run just fine on my system.

I downloaded some updates yesterday and everything was running fine. When I shut down Trainz I noticed that the taddaemon was still running and didn't shut down - I turned the computer off around 2 hours later and had to do a forced shutdown on the taddaemon. When I opened this morning Trainz automatically ran a quick data base repair then everything seemed to work fine - after a couple of hours work I attempted to save my project, but got a message saying I could not do that because my file was a read only. I gave the project a new name and saved it (nothing happened) and finally closed without saving. When I re-opened the project none of today's work appeared. I then opened the auto-saved version (I have my auto save set to 15 min intervals) and also found my work was missing. Again, when I shut down Trainz the taddaemon kept running like yesterday and I eventually shut it down using the task manager. Trainz is now running another quick data base repair so I will see what happens this time.:'(

Welcome to the forums.

I'd hold off in jumping just yet. The issue you see here has nothing to do with the program its self. This has to do with the FTP server that hosts the multitude of downloadable assets. Once this has been attended to, things will be fine. As is usually the case, this kind of thing happens when the holidays approach. The laws of Murphy and the computer gods tend to work in their favor when the people watching the operation are away. I say this as a retired IT guy who had the honors in my not so distant past of attending to such matters while on call during the holidays.

Concur with the saving issue. Before kicking SP1/HF4 off and reverting to 49922, I also experienced the unable to save issue. Quite why an issue with the remote server would affect my ability to save my work on my local PC is a mystery, but one that N3V need to investigate fairly urgently.

Saved OK this time around, but that dreaded taddaemon would not close again, which means another quick data base repair when I log on in the morning. Oh well

I never deleted 49922, only been using SP1 for compatibility testing and running a few 3.7 routes, currently it's so screwed up its unusable. As far as creating anything is concerned I have stuck to pre SP1.

My 49922 build isn't being touched/patched either, I also have another install just being patched to date. Must remember to use it and see the chaos.

I'm very glad that I decided to scan the forums before patching my copy of TS12 to SP1. I think I'll hold off and do something else today, like watch bowl games?, and wait for everything to get sorted out.

Thank you to all who contributed to this thread.

The FCT failure has now spread to my 61388 with no DLC added, TS12 49922, 2010 and 2009 are still working ok.

G'day John, I don't think this has anything to do with the FTP server as the the FTP server graph here http://www.auran.com/planetauran/FTP_Status_Log.php shows. This has to do with the DRM checking and the DLC content, TS12 pre SP1, TS10, TS09 and TRS06 work fine with no problems.
Taddaemon (SP1 only) has been doing some really weird things.
Regards
Barrie

Hi Barrie,

I realize this but it's kind of hard to explain to a new user with a single post, besides how easy is it to get older versions of Trainz these days? Most people would end up with SP1 when they install and if they install the add-ons.

I've had the save issue before the patches and still get them occasionally. So I can't say that SP1-Plus is an issue here; it just didn't resolve the problem completely before.

My install is still a mess. So much for making progress on a project due in April!

I can throw my hat in, having big problems along the same exact lines. Submitted helpdesk ticket, sit back and wait....

Precisely why I have refused to leave 49922 since SP1 came out. I have never patched any of my versions of Trainz.

SETXR-Horrific bugs aren't worth it.

Regret: patch to build your TRS 61388 - killed now many details:

Who invented to organize such a diversion?:'(
