How does one get permission from another?

I want to release my LM&SC F-Unit reskins, but I do need permission from Trainboi1 to release them on my website. Not only do I want to do this (so I'm not a mild thief), but I also want to know how getting permission works on the forums in general.

If he does find this thread, maybe he will give me permission to release these fictional F-units.

It's not really a Forum thing. A good start would be the Trainz Forge homepage, under the 'Team' header, where it says 'Contact Us'....

Usually the author will have various contact methods. Some will happily read and reply to PMs on the forums. Others may provide an email address for you to contact. Heck maybe in this day and age they might just be on Discord or something too.

In general:
Contact the author, ask permission.
If he or she gives it, be sure you both document that.
No reply = No permission.

you already uploaded the locomotive to your website so i would suggest taking that down unless you got permission from them to upload it.

It has recently been taken down. There was no download button, but it would still count somehow.
