How do you configure signals?

Hi

I keep reading in various threads that some signals need to be configured to work properly - especially for diverging routes. What exactly does this mean and how do you do it? When I place a signal on the route and click on the ? button, all I get is the option to give it a name.
I am using PTP signals from the Dresden demo route (Trainz 2006) and I notice that the Vorsignale (distant signals) are unlit in Route Editor but lit correctly in Session Editor and I found this really weird.
Any help very gratefully received.

Although I do not use these signals I think that from what you've said, these do not need/allow configuration. Examples of configurable signals are Bloodnok's British VSR signals. By placing targets on the track on the other other side of a set of points means that the signal displays the right Feather or Theatre Indicator (as is normal with British Signals). I'm not sure if there are any configurable German Signals. Maybe a German route creator will be able to assist here.

Hello Again

I've just realised my original note was a bit ambiguous. What I SHOULD have said is that when I go into Session Editor on the Demo route, the signals are lit. I'm afraid on my own route they are unlit in both Route and Session Editors. I've tried searching the rules for the Demo sessions but can't find anything that would cause the signals to light up. Really weird!

Hello all and thanks for advice so far. The mystery has deepened since I last wrote. Following your advice and my own observation, I half suspected that the problem lay in the session writing rather than the route itself. So I tried to write a small test session for the German route and was amazed to find that, not only didn't the signals work properly but nor did the speed restriction signs. I then found a PTP manual on the Internet which says (in German of course) that trackside objects such as signals are configured in the session editor and not the route editor but then, very unhelpfully, doesn't say how it is done!!! I've explored the Session editor in the Dresden Demo but can't find anything other than the usual common rules that everybody else uses.
If I ever find the answer, I'll write and let you know. It might help some other frustrated German rail enthusiast one day!!!
