can someone please post me a step by step guide to putting a texture on an asset, ive created my texture and followed the instructions given on the wikki page to the letter, but when I hit thectrl+m to commit iust get te folloeing error... Error: Unable to load source texture 'hash-d6\copytempsrcmrp8xjy0265\02_diesel_br_blue_body\02_main.convert-tex' in subst 'local'... anyone tell me what that's about ..im on trainz 12 build 61388

Hello and welcome to Trainz. I see you've registered your version which is a good start. :)

Uploading is different from what you're doing. Right now you're just saving changes. I hope you cloned the asset first and went into the config to re-name it (to do this, change the value for the 'username' tag).

The problem most likely means that Trainz is in the Program Files folder and is not being run as Administrator.

To fix this, find the Trainz shortcut on the Desktop and right-click on it. Select Properties from the menu. Go to the Compatibility tab in the window that pops up, and tick the checkbox for "Run this program as Administrator". Then click on Apply.

Start Content Manager again and try to commit the asset. It should work.

Kieran.

I would double check spelling of your reskined texture file name & the name of that file in the texture.txt file. Do Not rename any of the texture.txt files, if you did you need to rename them back to what they were.

all I did was clone the asset went to the file folder in explore opened the texture file into psp x6 overlayed my texture to it saved it then went to to content manager and hit ctrl m and up comes the error

Right away someone who re-skins an asset ... they immediately want to re-distribute it, and upload it to some site ... Usually you must have permission from the creator, to release someones else's asset to the public.

basicly its my first attempt at reskining I mearly wish to learn how to reskin ..and as im quite adept in su I might move on to my own mesh files when I get the hang of how this works

This error can happen if the file is still open in PSP. Start again, but close the file from PSP before trying to commit.

Out of curiosity is the texture file a .bmp or .tga? If .tga did you save it as uncompressed? The default in many programs is compressed.

Cheerio John

I've had the same error given when downloading an asset from the download station, so it isn't limited to just you having had edited it...I think it is just saying that the texture is corrupted.
-Try copying the original texture from the original asset, and paste it in to the cloned version without any modification to see if it is indeed that when you edited it, it got corrupted.

its a .tga file..and to my knowledge I don't think pspx6 gives you compression options .as I recall ive never seen any

If you had read his post Cascade you would have realized he just used the wrong term. All salmacis64 is trying to do is get a reskin she did in game. "Import" would have been a better word then "Upload", but give the newbie a break.

If it helps you feel any better, I just got the same error on a single item, when I just installed a bunch of content I had downloaded. I'll see if I can'r weed out which one it was & look into it more.

Did you work on your reskin in the editing folder in Trainz? If so try this:

Cut the folder containing everything (usually called either "new_asset" or "edit[string of letters & numbers]") to someplace else, like your desktop. Relaunch CMP, and then drag & drop that folder into the CMP main window.
