how do i make trainz look like this...?

drrt4

ಠ_ಠ....What?
... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yh-MMV6XypU&feature=related its so smooth, on my comput re its like "stop-g-stop-go-stop" especially when i run steem? are my graphics running right? my computer (at last check) ran it perfitcley other than the problem at hand that. allso i cant look at my running specs because my computer is not working because of a missing windows 32 file! running TRS2009. THANKS IN ADVANCE!:D

Buy a faster computer ;)

Seriously though,

1) what is your current PC specification? (from "My Computer")
As much detail as you can find out

2) Hve you tried creating a simple track with minimal scenery and doing something like the video?

3) Performance in Trainz isn't direcly comparable with other simulators - it does use the system rather differently....

4) turn the distance and detail slides to minimum.

On a median to high computer spec you can do that easily. But you touch some details on that video: The lighting goes will. The clouds move just like a hurricane. The horn of a far distant boat (?) sound just like if it is about to roll over you. And the camera movement is abrupt (we should be able to move it at whatever speed we somehow choose). No doubt all are attributes to our simulator! Other than that.. is very nice.

ok i cant find out anything other than what i know....i know i have 1gig and 502mb of ram. and the CPU speed...i cant rember. i have SP3 for windows. im typing this on my SLOW lab-top, my FAST AS HELL desktop is missing 1 F&!#ING windows 32 file! so my trainz computer is down for the count. im sorry for posting this without knowing my specs but i want to know.thanks for reading.

EDIT: yes i did try making a route [before hand] with NO scenery just track it works ok. it only happens on a route like up cama sub.

Hi,

Do you have the Windows disk?

IIRC there's the possibility to load the Win XP install disc, then enter the "Console" mode and repair your installation.

May take awhile, but could well save a trip to the repair man....

(IIRC last time I did that it needed to update itself a few times - with an internet connection..)

Apparently by mixing American locomotives with UK wagons...

DB is Duetsche Bahn which is a German Company, that looks like a German Container Wagon with a couple of American flat wagons...

As for how do you make Trainz go faster, make smaller routes with fewer objects added (which will save you money) or get a faster computer (which will cost you money), if you have an upgradable computer, then upgrading will cost you less money than buying a completly new system, just a few tweaks here and there can make your system super fast, remember this - the fastest computer on earth can be brought to a halt using trainz, depending on how big your route is and how much stuff you have in your route, the more you add, the more your computer has to render and remember, so this can result in a slower computer.

If your computer is out for the count, use your windows disk, this then will do a full system check, after which it will ask you to repair installation or format drive and install windows, choosing repair should fix the problem, but a system32.exe is an important file and is part of the main frame for the windows system, if this is corrupt, then unfortunatly you will have to format the drive and re-install a fresh windows program, unfortunatly during the format process, you will lose everything you had on your computer, but a fresh install might do your computer the world of good and might make it faster, due to no clutter or un-used files floating around your system.

Hope this helps

Eh? the video I watched showed a Union Pacific Big-Boy hauling 60s-80s era UK 'Freightliner' containers - ie, grey/white with a red stripe and the BR logo.

I saw no DB content, but then I didn't watch the whole video.

Edit: Never mind, just watched it again, didn't see the DB containers the first time, and only saw the freightliner ones further down the consist.

What a horrible mismatch of rolling stock, I'd be embarassed if it was my video :P

Well, Trainz was stuttering for me too in high detail layouts.
Core 2 E6600 with 4 gb ram, Win XP. ( XP sees only 3 gb )
I upgraded to Windows 7 64 bit, which opens up the 3gb to 4 gb memory, and the Trainz program runs smooth as silk in comparison.
With an upgrade from 4gb to 8gb, and Win 7 64 bit, Trainz will run really nice.

Yes I am sorry, you are right, I watched all the way through and there are British Rail Freightliner Container wagons in the consist, I do agree though, it's something you'd never see in America or anywhere else.

First the American Union Pacific Big Boy steam engine, then the American tender, then the DB German Container, then a couple of American flat wagons and then BR UK Container wagons, it's the round the world frieght train calling at all country's...

Grab the windows serial number off your computer before it gets overwritten.

You can get your computer specs by RIGHT clicking the My Computer icon. If it's not on your desktop it should be!
  • Right click a blank part of the desktop
  • Click Properties
  • Click the Desktop TAB
  • Click the Customise Desktop button near the bottom left
  • Tick the My Computer box
Now the My Computer icon is on your desktop. leave it there.
Right click the icon to see your Specs.

I don't have Trainz on this computer so I'm now guessing:
  • Start Trainz in Windows Mode.
  • Reduce the screen size to 640 x 480 0r 800 x 600 max.
  • Do everything else mentioned in this thread.
  • Subscribe to the Trainz Community Newsletter. There will be a tutorial in May.
