How Do I Change A Trains Specifications?

I have some great looking engines in TRS2004(BN SD40-2 by SPOREBUST or someone like that) and I want the specs to be more like the BN SD40-2 that is built into the game. If I could do this then I would use these locomotives way more often. The annoying specs have made me use UP GP60's and stuff like that. Please help me with this. Is this even possible?

Check the tag "enginespec" kuid in the locomotives config file and copy the one to the other.

It looks kinda like that. The max speed isnt correct. Is it supposed to be like that?

As you can see, the max speed says 35. The in game max speed is well over that! This is the default BN SD40-2 by the way. I want the BN SD40-2 by SPOREBUST to have the exact same specs. If I copy it to that engine, will it work?

The measurement in the config file is in meters per second, so the actual figure in-game will be higher.

Aw man I can't edit the enginespec kuid! Just great.

All you need to do is change the engine spec kuid number in the loco config file, 1 near the top and 1 in the kuid table at the bottom.
Are you running as admin ?

It wont let me edit the kuid in the original file. How do I open this in a text editor?

Is the asset locked? If not, use Open in Explorer.

When ever I try to type or delete or change it in any way it wont let me. How do I open in explorer? Im sorry. I'm just really new to this.

Right-click the asset in Content Manager, select Edit, then click Edit in Explorer.

Once done, follow the same but click Commit instead.

Ok. Now what? The kuid has changed. When I search for it with Asset kuid, it shows up. But then that's not available for edit. I think that's all I can do...

That's interesting. Are you able to provide a screenshot? (You will need to use a photo-sharing site, and bear in mind that the maximum image size for this forum is 800 x 600).

Not able to do so. So all in all the new enginespec kuid is <kuid2:9000:51301:1>. Maybe if I change it to the Auran BN SD40-2 enginespec kuid it will work. Is that what you have been trying to tell me?

Replace the unwanted engine spec kuid number with the one you want to use.
Open the asset as Shane said, then open the config file. You'll need to replace it (the kuid number) in 2 places as I said before. Once done close the config file then r/click and commit the asset.
