How do I add and delete trains in Trainz 12?

As a beginner, I cannot figure out how to put a train onto a route. I went through the tutorials, and they worked fine. I understand how to drive a train.

Now I would like to take a route, put a train on it, and run it, without having to follow a set tutorial or plan. As an example, I was trying the Mojave subdivision. I put the Superchief consist on a siding. But now, I cannot figure out how to add locomotives, so it just sits on a siding. I was hoping to add an F7A-F7B-F7A, but I cannot figure it out.

Is it possible to just start with a route that has no trains or cars on it? Then, add my own trains and cars? I would think this would be simple, but I cannot figure out how to do it.

As a new user to Trainz, I am enjoying it very much, but even after reading the entire instruction manual that came with it, I am lost.

Thank you for your help.

one way that you can try is to open the map in survyor and add your consist and engine to a section of siding and save it after your done with a new session name. Then from sessions open your custom session and play that way. The other way is to make your own consist (which can be done easily from a section of track layed in a new route map in survyor). THen using the consist tap on the rolling stock tab use the get consist button and click on your train with engine attached and give it a name in the popup box. The second option will allow you to use the consist in any map.

James's instructions are right but since you're a noob let me be more specific.
After double clicking the TS2012 icon on the desktop to open the Trainz Launcher, click Start, then select Routes and left click the desired route to highlight it, then click the sessions button in the lower right, then in the upper left click Create Session. This puts you in what is know as Surveyor which has all the Route building tools. Then select the trainz pop out tab (lower right) or press the F7 key and select/place a loco and traincars. Then test your session by clicking the Quick Drive Icon (next to the Main Menu button) or press Ctrl + F2. Select Save and name the session and click the check mark.

James and Bob, thank you. Bob, I followed your step-by-step instructions, and things worked perfectly. I wish the manual had some short, basic examples like that.

It looks like there are a lot of good things in TrainZ, I just wish I could figure out how to use them instead of continuously posting questions here.

Your instructions were perfect. I'm a beginner also and with your help I was able to add the train I wanted.
Thanks.
