In TRS22 I have not been able to figure out how to place a train on any route I have for a free ride. My favourite locomotive is the LRS Dutchess and I have imported her into TRS22 without any trouble. but how do I set her up for a ride?

Not sure that I understand the problem.

If the train (or is it just the loco) appears in the available rolling stock assets list (are you using TRS22 standard or TRS22PE in Surveyor Classic or Surveyor 2.0) then it should be a simple matter of selecting the item in the list then left clicking on a track segment to place it. Does the loco not appear when you do that? If not then check for issues such as not enough track space to place the loco.

For a "free ride" it would be best to place the asset in a session attached to the route.

Or, in place of the Free drive of the previous versions, use "Create Session", plunk down whatever you want, and switch to Drive mode.

Thank you all for help, this cleared up my problem and I wouldn't have understood this by myself. It's not intuitive :) I have imported the ECML to Edinburgh line from TANE and the routes there works well, but it is not possible to add your own stock/train. But on lines that are native to TRS22 this works well, both methods. I am an old man, but I learned something new today as well. I am almost in love with the Dutchess!

You can edit sessions, or better yet, clone and create your own that you can modify how you wish.

May I suggest since your made quite a jump from TANE to TRS 22,

You have the option of 2 different surveyor modes, 1 or 2, I am older in my mid 70s and 22 is hard for me to learn, have upgraded from TRS 2019 Platinum it was quite a jump, with all the new features. I decided after looking at Surveyor 2 with all the Fly outs (side Panels) cluttering the screen, I needed to play with 1 and learn 2 as I get used to 22 Features.

One of the more learned members here told me, it took them about a year with steep learning curve. And I respect their sage advice,,,it will take me a while..If not longer to get used to TRS22, your mileage will vary.

That said, I like 22, and will keep it. But I also have TRS 2019 to play and refer too for some time.

One other thing, if you have any old Routes from TANE they should import to 22, but once in 22, you cannot import them back to an older version of Trainz as far as I know.

The last thing, I would like to ADD, TRS22 has a much faster DBR Engine, and gets the job done... DBR stands for Database Repair operations.

If i recall, in TANE, you didn't have an external Content Manager, it was inside your Trainz menu, so this will be quite a step up too. If you ever used Excel,, then Content Manager will make more sense in how to use it. Very powerful resourceful in Trainz.

That would be correct if he has installed TRS22PE which includes Surveyor 2 as an option alongside the original or traditional Surveyor (or Surveyor Classic as it is now called). However if he has installed the standard TRS22 then that only includes Surveyor Classic.
