For various reasons I haven't bothered with Trainz for about a year and unfortunately my interest has waned so much that the tracks are rusty and covered with weeds. I opened TRS2009 today and gave up after about 10 minutes. Any suggestions?
Hello lewisner,
How to rekindle your interest in Trainz?
From your question, I can only conclude that you haven't lost a total interest into Trainz, otherwise you wouldn't have asked other trainzers for suggestions.
I can only tell you what schedule I'm presently using.
I have done some splitting in my Trainz activities. What do I mean by splitting?
For my tram/train route I'm doing the following
- I'm spending some hours gathering info about the route, adding some new textures to my route, learn how to build an object ( I tried Gmax, went to Google Sketchup, and will start learning Blender ), take my Digital camara to take some pictures of the real situation ( and taking the tram or train ( just enjoying a day out ).
If I haven't got any inspiration about how to add some specific texture to my route, then I take some time looking at other routes, etc etc etc.
What I no longer do, is being busy adding texture to my route for several hours during each day of the week.
Perhaps my method is a solution for you? If not, why don't you join a group in your town or region? Why not spend some time, giving your knowledge to the very beginners of trainz.
There are several options available, but as others already said - don't force it, just enjoy it.
Hope this helps
Best regards
