Hirochi assets faulty despite initially not being shown as such.

Hello, Auran forums!

I've recently installed some of Hirochi's Shinkansen trainsets and have run into a situation where they, along with their dependencies, install just fine, can be placed in Surveyor without problem, but dissapear and can't be controlled once I load the session into Driver mode.

On a further note, while placing the affected rolling stock in surveyor, the model can be placed on the tracks within the route, but don't show up in the preview on the rolling stock menu.
Attempting to view the model via the "Preview Asset" function in the Content Manager also shows nothing besides the previewers inherent light source.

De- and Reinstalling both the affected assets and T:ANE itself has yielded no change to this issue.
I am running T:ANE SP4 build 105957, if that helps.

- Affected assets placed in editor, along with some non-affected assets (0-Series Shinkansen and E7/W7 Series on the far right) for reference. Note that in the menu, the 300 Series Shinkansen is selected, but not shown as a preview.

- The same session, but in driver mode. Note that all but the previously mentioned assets and the N700 series cars coupled behind the 300 series have dissapeared.
The invisible trains are selectable, but can't be controlled and when selected, freeze the camera in place.

- Attempting to view one of the assets (Selected in the content manager). Note that within the Content Manager, it is not listed as faulty.

- Opening another affected asset for editing and closing it eventually yielded this error: "Failed to acquire asset accessor for script cache".

Is there a way to resolve this?

Sounds very similar to a problem I found (no answer) where the tender of the NZR Ab class vanishes the instant you start the game. You can move the engine, but it drives through its consist then crashes. This is most clearly an SP 4 issue, and you probably should report it as a bug.

Thanks for the response. I figured that it'd be an update problem, because I could have sworn that they used to work before. I can't find a dedicated bug report thread, so I'll go and put in a ticket with the helpdesk. Hopefully they'll respond.

The problem is related to the script.

If the script isn't working properly in some fashion, weird things can happen including intermittent errors. Scripts are not always active in Surveyor where you've placed your consists. This explains why they don't show up in Driver where they are active. Unless the scripts can be updated, there is no way to make the asset work as intended without performing a hack and removing the script references in the config.txt file.

@JCitron - That could be, but wouldn't that throw up an error in the Content Manager? Either way, I'll bring this up in the Japan thread, see if anyone there has a fix.

Yes and no.

The script isn't checked in Content Manager because the script is only activated at run-time, meaning during Driver and the asset preview window since that's a quick-load of Driver.
