Highly recommended external backup.

Hi everyone!,

I just purchased two of these devices. One for my brother and one for myself. They are for SATA drives, but considering that us Trainzers are constantly looking for extra drive space and a good backup solution, this seems to fit the bill. Besides, what's a better use of an older SATA drive you might have lying around.

This is the ThermalTake BlacX.

There is no external enclosure. The drive simple plugs into the base, and being USB, it is fully hot swappable. Simple "safely remove" from the computer and turn the drive off.

I took my old 200 GB drive, that I had replaced with a 1 TB recently, and now use this as my external backup. My brother took is former 80GB, which he replaced with a 320GB and uses the 80 as a storage device for his DVD backups that he constantly needs to search for old jobs.

Nice device at a reasonable price. $30-$50 and available online, like at NewEgg, or at BestBuy. I'm sure it's available in other places as well. I give it a 5-star rating.
