Well that is easy to answer.....based on what you like. Many people are complaining about the lack of UK content in TS12.

Railworks.

Have fun,

i have railworks but it just lacks the design of routes ... its harder to do ... where as Trainz its simple .

There you go then, you've answered your own question ...................

Buy TS2010 & build your own English routes, e.g. East Lancs Railway, Manchester Metrolink etc. in the easier Trainz simulation game. :D

Someone - dashed if I can remember who, used to have a link to British railway lines done on Trainz which would be a help as the thread starter is new so a bit of leewee needed maybe folks? He may like to search under 'Angelah' who has produced some as a start in a constructive help. He asked a legitimate question as a newcomer and just saying go off and make something is a little unfair?

Better know as just Angela, it's me...

Hi, yes, I have made several actual prototypical routes to exact scale so you get your quidsworth.
WCL1 and WCL2 for a start. WCL1 was started many years ago so at the start you will see older content, but as time went by more assets came out and things began to change. This section runs from Paddington to Reading and includes the Reading MPD. In fact it runs out to a way past the drying sheds at whatever the place is called, God, my memory is getting awful.
WCL2 goes on from there and will easily stitch onto the first section, I have done it so I know, and ends a few miles past Westbury. All assets for section 1 are on the DS for this section but you will need to manually download one, this is (from memory) 147131:261103, the number will show red in the downloading window of 2010 so you can just select it and choose Show in main window to get the kuid. Section 2 uses Conti's greenery trees so you will need to go get those from the site here http://www.greenery.name/mstsg/mstsgd.htm?trainz,2
There is a file called WCL1 and 2 so you can get it already put together.
Hayling Island is another 'real' route and the Kent & East Sussex another, in both summer and winter.
I also modded another large route and have made quite a few fictitious ones.

To be fair RJ, he appears to have 2004 & 2009 so may not be a newbie to the game, just to the forum, also, he himself actually stated that .......

Which to me, says he is not a stranger to route building. ;)

G'day!

Trainz Classics 3 would be the way to go if you wanted British stuff.

Cheers! :)

Jake.

There is the Preston-Carlisle route available from the Railwaves website for a few £'s. ;)

Unfortunatly, they have stopped selling that route now, due to copyright restrictions, which is a shame really, because the route looked superb, and I so wanting to buy that route too.

I have virtually everything from Railwaves and I wanted to complete my collection, I contacted Railwaves last year about it, but was told it was not for sale anymore, I am still on the look out for this route, so if it is for sale anywhere, then I would be very grateful for any info.

Many thanks

Ooh, stopped selling it, that's a shame, it's a good route. I better take good care of my copy then. Have you tried ebay and all those other sites?
SnC is a must have for British rail fans, I have been updating and upgrading it with 2010 track, Pofig trees and Jankvis' shrubs and grass. Really looking superb now and runs smooth too.

newbie ish to forum ..... i tryed building routes in railworks as my trs2004 disc got eaten by my old computer ! track laying in railworks is hard work , trainz is simple ..... in my opinion if you put the graphics and rolling stock and locos from railworks , and the simplictity of trainz eg route building into one game you would have the ultimate Train simulator .... so what trainz game shall i get ??
