HELP!!!

Also, is there a way to change my user name? I clicked through the various options and did not come up with any help.

That is just telling you that the download server is busy with other downloads. (It has limited capacity). Go back to the download site and and keep clicking on the link every few minutes. That way you have a chance to get through when some one else completes a download.

This (TRAINZ 2010) is a complex program and it can be a challenge just to get it running properly. Personally, I think "My First Train Set" would be a better choice for a five year old. It is a much simpler program and far less taxing on your PC.

I hear you Tom, given what I have experienced thus far..... This simulator is for him as much as it is for me. The way I see it, figure out how to use a program no matter how complex it is and move on from there. I have been amazed how much my son has learned from other programs, he is a sponge and I want to continue to encourage to be so. Teach him to learn and respond to higher level thinking situations can only lead to good things. He is one persistant youngster that is for sure. We have not, will not, give up due to the challenges that we face :)

Hi Kurtf0a
For your username, you will need to contact us via the helpdesk for this. However, please keep in mind that we can only change the username once, and as such we ask that you be sure of the username that you wish to have it changed too.

In regards to model railways, I would suggest that you try asking at your local model railway club (the 'train crew' as you call it). As you do have a local club, it's likely that there is a hobby shop/model railway shop relatively close to the club (since the club itself will need somewhere to buy stuff from). Also try looking up a few hobby shops in the phone book that may be in your local area, and even some toy shops (these generally have starter sets, and a bit of extra track and scenery).

Just trying to figure this all out

Glad to help. If you should need further assistance with setting up or running the program post your question(s) directly in the 2010 Forum in order to obtain the quickest response.

Have Fun, tomurban

I have my brother on the case. He is downloading the files and burning them to CD's so that I can try that route.

As for the program complexity.... I am finding out that my son is very interested into trying new things, expecially train related programs. When we started using the Rule the Rails program, it was "too much to handle" yet to date, he has figured out far more than I have and far more than I expected him to do. I look forward to all that I can learn from everyone here, thank you for your continued support!!

I'm glad you are able to get the files downloaded, Kurt.

You'll find that Trainz will be worth more than the minimal amount of money you paid for it and then some. There are so many things that can be done with the various aspects, and all depending upon how complex you and your son want make this great program to be.

Route building can become addicting and very time consuming. You'll find yourself thinking about your route all day as you do other things. Remember, though, this is supposed to be fun and when it becomes a chore, step away for a fresh view.

At this point, we are just looking forward to starting the whole process! Install planned for tomorrow and Konnor can not wait! I too am looking forward to getting this program rolling!!
Thank you all for your help!! I will be asking for more help in the near future, that I am sure :)

Well...... Got Trainz2010 uploaded from disks. System meets the minimum requirements. I have ZERO tutorial files. Also, when I open a route, various things happen: route opens with train sounds but only tree's loaded, just terrain loads, system freezes, etc. Also, system is very slow, probably due to my setup. Any thoughts, ideas, suggestions as to how to boost my systems performance? No, I am not referring to my PERSONAL system needing performance boosting, just thought I should add this! :)

You need to post your system specs; HD, CPU, GPU, RAM, OS, etc. You would also be better off in the 2010 forum with these questions.
