Install the one you purchased. It's possible that you also get the base program free with your purchase. You can install that one too because that version will not conflict with the other.

Okay, sorry for being annoying, but now I have another problem. It turns out that there is an update available and when I try to update it, I get an error message that says the following:
Patch failed: failed to read source data:
Does anyone know what this error might be?

Change your update stream from the launch screen/settings/install.

Okay, but exactly what do I have to look for, I mean when I installed the game I installed everything in the default folder that the game gives you.

You don't need to change anything on your computer. Open the launch screen, then click on Trainz settings. Next, click on the install menu.
At the bottom, click on Change Trainz update stream. In the next window, just click next and the same in the next window. You should now have change stream showing. Click on it and in the window select a different stream.
