HELP! Stations re-setting on load!

So I'm finding when ever I plop down a station, industry, portal, anything in trainz and spend time imputing all the options and products and such, upon leaving the game and coming back ALL my industries and stations are re-set to their default values!!

I never had this problem with 2009, I'm currently on 2010 and this is absolutely ruining the game for me. How can I make any progress if items forget all my imputs?

What's strange though is things like static stations that you can name, or signs you can name, have no problem between games.

I'm curious if this is a bug I'm having, or is there some feature I'm missing where I"m not saving my station/industry options to the right session or layer or what ever?

Little extra info, I think this is a saving problem or just misunderstanding how the new session/layout options work.

I just set the starting passengers to 30 and named a station and made sure the station was on the LAYOUT layer. I exited surveyor and it asked me what to do, I told it to overwrite the session and layout.

I then go back into my layout by clicking edit layout (I don't go further into the sessions list as I only have one) and there's my station. It has the right name I gave it, but all its passenger stats are default.

So, I then changed it to 30, exited, but this time saved as a NEW session then opened the layout via editing that session.

My question now is, is there an easier way to do this? I don't want to have to make a new session every time I changed a station, nor do I have to want to go into the session menu. IS there any way to plop down a station change it's passenger numbers and have those numbers STICK on the layout level?

Session Specific

What you are doing is session specific - the changes are made at the session level not actually on the map (layout). To retrieve the changes you are making edit the session, not the layout! You do not need to create a new session everytime.

PS: Nice to see another Islander on the forums

If you want what you have done in a session to work in the route and not just the session then you need to merge the session layer with the route layer.

When editing in a session save and overwrite route and session, then you can continue next time by editing the session, then what I do, is use the same session for editing and when happy merge it with the route.

Now a days I just create a "Session Settings" session which I edit, instead of the route.

Your statements above got my attention. Can you clarify what gets merged when the route and session get saved together? Are they items created within a session but set for the route layer?

I only have a rudimentary understanding of layers and I found this statement in the TS2010EE manual:

"Layers exist in either the route or a session. Layers applied to a route are
available to all sessions for that route whereas layers applied to a session
are only available for that session."

This seems to conflict with what you said but more likely reflects my poor understanding of layers.

Hmm, a lot of talk here about merging session layers with route layers and editing routes (layouts). I can only say that I personally never use the edit route button. For every new created route I create a base session immediately. Everytime I want to edit that route later, I open it with edit session instead and choose that base session. The only thing to remember when doing it this way is to switch to a route layer before you start editing your route.
Needless to say I've never experienced the problems you all describe doing route/layout editing like this.
