hi all

whenever i restart my computer windows 7 kicks me out as administrator.

is there a way that i can stay administrator all the time?

i have gone in and added that i should be, but it don't work.

every time that i want to add cdp's or do something it tells me that i should contact my administrator as i do not have those priviledges.

any help would be greatly appreciated

thanks
ron

OK - something serious has happened here. I would advise writing down these instructions as it involves a computer reboot.

1.Click Start, then click the arrow next to Shut Down.
2.Click Restart.
3.Once it starts booting again, press F8 - you should get a menu. If it boots into Windows instead, repeat steps 1 and 2.
4.Use the arrows to select Safe Mode, then press Enter.
5.Windows will now launch in Safe Mode - this could take a while. Once it loads, click Administrator (this is a hidden account only available in Safe Mode)
6.When the desktop loads, click Start.
7.In the search box, type 'User Accounts' then click the option of the same name when it appears.
8.Click 'Manage another account' - you may have to click Yes in a UAC box at this point.
9.Click the username that is not working correctly.
10.Click Change account type.
11.Click the circle next to 'Administrator' then click Change Account type. (If you get a UAC box, click Yes/Continue)
12.Close the User accounts window and reboot your system (repeat steps 1 and 2)

Hopefully this fixes the problem. If not, reply to this post.

OK, Windows 7 Ultimate has a slightly different way of managing users, which I will need to check up on. I will report back when I have more info.

OK, I may have another solution.

Firstly repeat steps 1 to 6 above.
From then on:
7.Type 'netplwiz' into the search box, then click it when it appears.
8.When the tool loads, click your user name (the affected one) then click Properties.
9.Click Group Memberships.
10.Click Administrators if it is not already selected.
11.Click OK twice.
12.Click No if asked to log off then restart your system.
