why is it like this?

Is it due to recently reinstalling everything?

Only things in the local folder are odd everything that is built in is fine.

thanks in advance.

Reminds me of the northern lights:hehe:. Maybe its a experiment gone wrong. Look like your graphic card doesn't like either open GL or directx switch between them and see if it still appears.

Odd

No difference between them.

however when running the layout that came with the Treez pack it looks like this.

from what I've gathered looking at them it seems that 90% of them are wrong.

well at least that's what I have found by looking.

Thanks for the help

In that case, do a group at a time (sort by category) select all, open for edit and commit. If you have a decent computer with sufficient RAM it should be able to handle the load without bogging down.

Oh...

I just opened the whole lot without the built in and commited all that.

I have some rough figures on how long it'll take at different speeds.

10575 assets (non built in after doing all the assets overnight).
Formula used = Number of assets divided by amount per minute divided by 60 divided by 24.

Contnet commiting times:

6 a min- 1.22395 days
5 a min- 1.46875 days
4 a min- 1.83593 days
3 a min- 2.44791 days
2 a min- 3.67187 days
1 a min- 7.34375 days

long time:o

How did you save and reinstall the local folder?

Copy the Local folder and save it either to a disk or seperate hard drive.

Installing is done by opening CM manager going to file and import content and select the Local folder.

As you copied the local folder to another disc you should copy it back not import it. Once you copy the folder back you need to delete the assets tdx in your user data folder and let trainz rebuild the file.

I should point out that the advice given regarding deleting assets.tdx is for TRS2006 and possibly Trainz Classics only.

Use the Extended Database Repair option in Content Manager for TS2009 and above.

Anyway, it's easier to import the assets, not simply copy them back in, as an EDR can take several hours.

Ive deleted assets.tdx in 2010 and it gets rebuilt on opening trainz. It reloads all assets in the local folder. This is not a repair but an update of the data base.

Hi

There is also an assets.bku backup file in UserData\cache that you would need to delete as well, otherwise it will simply copy the backup file to assets.tdx. I did try doing all this but I wasn't happy that the database was accurate after rebuilding a number of times so I finally used the import method.

I see some users do not realise why deleting assets.tdx and assets.bku should not be done in TS2009/TS2010/TS12.

The reason is that assets.tdx in these versions also contains your user data, including your CD Key/serial number, as well as any changed settings in the Trainz Options box.

Sorry but cant agree with you on that as ive just done a delete of asset.tdx and the data got rebuilt and all the trainz option info is still there as I set it up. Also the Serial number, username and password are all intact in the options window. A new assets.tdx has been created and all is working fine. The update is quicker than a data repair. (assets installed 24190)

Your'e right stagecoach. I have never lost critical info with 2009 up. Shane has posted this advice before. I did ask him why and have only just found his answer. I would still like to know more about the BKU file tho.
