Hello all. I am new and wanted to say hi.
During my early childhood years, I was fascinated by trains. I lived out in the country in Washington state, and when I heard a train sounding its horn, I would take my bicycle and pedal furiously the mile to the small town to see it. I was always fascinated by the train doing its shunting (I think that's the term), moving cars here and there.
Also, by watching the semaphore signals, I more or less figured them out. But from what I learned recently, I guess they are manually controlled? I always thought they were automatic.
I gradually outgrew my fascination with trains, being more concerned with work, mortgage and the like. The usual.
But I had a chance to pick up TS2009, and I'm finding it quite fun. I did find learning the Content Manager and assets and dependencies a slight learning curve.
But Chuck Brite's tutorials are, in the words of Family Guy, freakin' sweet. Very helpful stuff about signaling. I wonder if TS2010 will correct some of those signaling issues that necessitate the workarounds that Chuck outlined? For now, I'll have to content myself with just downloading routes and sessions. Maybe in a few months I'll have the time to go through the tutorials to actually create some of my own.
If I see any routes by Chuck, I'll sure download them because I'll know that my AI trains will work correctly. I'm open to suggestions for other train enthusiasts who have also created routes. I'm now downloading Cumberland-Connellsville, ProtoClinchElkhorn, Clovis 2.1, and the Montana Rail routes.
Any hopes that TS2010 CM will automatically grab all of the dependencies needed when downloading a route? That would save time.
I don't post much, I usually lurk, but wanted to say hi.
