Having a slight problem with installing Nvidia Drivers

The NVidia driver has changed. The control panel is a seperate download from the drivers.

If your machine is locking up, try cooling it down some. This is the summer time, and your machine could be overheating. This seems to be a problem with many machines this time of year.

It is running at 64-70 degrees celsius(all 3 fans including fan on GPU are working as expected),not to mention its an a room with an A/C set at 64.. And it is not locking up because of heat its locking up because the graphics card drivers fail when I try and play any sort of game. At desktop I am fine.

Only locking up when using this program. Trainz does put a lot of stress on a computer system compared to other games and programs other than 3D modelling programs, which can push a system to its limits with the CPU and graphics-intensive processing required to render a 3D scene.

Does any other graphics-intensive program do this?

Your temps are pretty high. For my 8800GTS and Quad Core CPU, my temps are:

========== Processor and System's Temperature Information ==========
CPU Temperature = 36 C
Second CPU Temperature = Not Reported
System Temperature = 31 C
GPU 0 Temperature = 47 C
========== Processor and System's Temperature Information ==========

I set my GPU profile, using the NVidia System Control Panel to move my fans to 80% speed when running Trainz. This cools the system down even more.

There's one other thing to try before going through the driver reinstalling thing again. In the Trainz control panel, reset the graphics setting to default. Save and exit then set them up to what you want them to be. I had a crashing issue before, which I thought was a hardware/driver issue, and after nearly pulling my hair completely out, I did this just because and it worked.

Other than that, I'm at a loss unless it is really a hardware problem, or a crapped up driver install.

All graphically intense things,such as trainz, COD4 and any other game as well as Google earth I get that... The temperature has dropped to 55 Celsius but my card is rated for high temperatures up to 125 degrees(which I would really not want to reach),not to mention I even left the side off of the computer and it did nothing, so it leads me even more to believe that it is a gpu failure.

I have also updated the graphics drivers, then back dated them/reinstalled from the disc after rmoving them from add/remove programs. I also did that with directx..
I also restored my computer to an earlier date,no luck.
Last night as a last ditch effort,I found where the nvp4_dsp.dll is located(C:/program files/windows/win32) And then I located that file in there. I found 7 of them? Then I removed the obvious choice named nvp4_dsp.dll with 1 of the other 6(since they are EXACTLY the same when you open them up and view them in a dll viewer) and then restarted the computer, launched a game, and although it lasted about 8 minutes rather then the 4 minutes they still failed. Leads me even more to beleive that the GPU is/has failed.

You could be right re failure, just replaced one myself with simlus hassles...
But you just may need an older driver, as your card is well over 1 year. The 7 series has been out for 3 or 4. Nvidia did say they were not sure how long support would remain for the 7 series when they pulled support for the 5 and 6 range. if you want to try an older driver from nvidia go
http://www.nvidia.com/Download/Find.aspx?lang=en-us
hope that helps for a while .
It is best to uninstall restart say not to xp installing drivers then install with virus scanner turned off

Good luck

Thanks,but I've already tried the oldest drivers they have, as well as the ones that come on disc,that comes with the card when you buy it... So I can say that a new card is in order or an entire new rig.

An update..
I took it to one of my friends houses(computer tech) and it worked perfectly... Maybe It is lacking enough power at my house?? I proceeded to unplug everything on the surge protector except the tower,1 monitor,and the external HD, but it was still a no go...maybe I should try a new surge protector?:confused: However I took a chance and plugged the tower directly into the wall, and it was still not working,maybe the outlet itself is shot?
