Having a slight problem with installing Nvidia Drivers

I'm running XP Pro with a Nvidia GTX280. I installed 182.50 3 to 4 weeks ago and haven't had the slightess problem. I've run 09, TC3 & 2006 without any problems.
I have changed the resolution a couple of times (upwards & downwards) on a couple of occasions when runnning large detail routes, without any problems.

Have a second PC with backups of 06 & TC3. (has 9800GX2). Just checked and 182.50 hasn't caused any problems there either, so can't speak for 7xxx & 8xxx series, but 9xxx, 260, 280, & 295 series seems to be OK with 182.50.

Check the card through the control panel, right click on the card and check the properties box. This will show you what version drivers you have running and any problems you may have. only takes 2 minutes.
I checked the ntune download last night but with your problem left it alone for fear of messing my graphics up.:eek:

It says I am using driver version 9.1.4.7 however I think that is wrong,but not sure...:o:hehe:

Seeing as the latest drivers are 182.5 it would seem yours may be wrong.
lets see if we can get some correct drivers for your card. nvidea website, below manually find drivers there's a section other downloads and support, then beta and archived drivers. Open that up put your card details in and there's a full list of available drivers, now can you remember what version you were running before? if your like me you'll not have a clue. So i would look at the posts on this thread from oldie and zulu, try the drivers mentioned, then download the ntune thing and maybe problem solved.:confused:

Just had a delve in the nvidea website. your drivers are version 91.47 dated sept 14 2006.

I was using 186.06 prior to installing 182.50.. I am gonna reinstall 186.06 again....Thank you for all your help so far:wave:
Edit: I just reinstalled 186.06 and they work fine...So what the hell is going on LOL

You meant 182.06 dated feb 18 2009. I thought my eyes were iffy.:o:o:o

Thanks,at least I am on semi-updated drivers,and not the ones on the CD:hehe: Now I have to try and get in contact with Nvidia I guess to see why the newer drivers don't work for me even though it says it works with my card:o:hehe:

I'm come to realize that sometimes...it's just you. Three hundred thousand people on the boardwalk and piers next to the sea, but when that seagull decides to evacuate it's bowels...it's just you....:(
 
Hi Gandalf,
Did you disable your security software before re-installing the drivers. Sometimes this is necessary. Not forgetting to re-activate and re-booting afterwards.

Yes I have,I experimented with and without it on...Also I had it on when I reinstalled 182.06 drivers so it may have an effect or not,but I already covered that basis..

Same here. Fortunately I compiled a Restore Point.
 
Just a slight bump, but for the better this time!:D I was having some problems with the screens starting the flicker,most likely because of the ancient drivers I was having to use due to the problems mention earlier in this thread. So today I installed 186.18 released on June 18th,and it worked! Everything is fine, so it is pretty much safe to say that maybe it was a defect in the driver release that didn't agree with some computers,or maybe all?:confused: Either way at least everything is now great.:)

Input not supported
Has anyone else had this problem? I have tried to update the drivers for my GF 9800GTX+ and everytime I end up with a black screen and the message
" Input not supported". To get going again I had to reboot in Safe mode and do a system restore. The driver updates were from the Nvidia site and I have tried their auto search with same result. John.

I should have said this is on Vista 64bit system, and my last driver update (Feb. 2009) has worked fine and is at the moment. The latest driver is 186.18 WHQL Vista 64bit. John.

Well what I thought was working great has come back to bite me in the rear. Now each time I try to play any game or even use Google Earth,the computer locks up and I get the dreaded blue screen of death saying that nvsp4)display driver has stopped working... I have updated direct x and the cards drivers as you can see above, then I went ahead and back dated both,thinking they were the problem,but it still persists.... I did go into the BIOS and found that my primary video adaptor was set to PCI even though my graphics card is AGP, so I changed that and my computer now runs faster(like it did prior to this new mess) however the driver failure STILL persists, I can't even open CMP without it closing immediatly upon opening...
During start up the edges of the screen flicker(as if my 1 year old card has failed or is going to?) But then once I get to the desktop everything is fine visual wise.... My next step is to completly remove the card as well as the drivers,then try again from scrath.. if that STILL doesn't work, I will have to take my mom's graphics card(my old trusty card since 2005) and stick it in my computer once again to see if my card is truely failed or failing. After I try those 2 things I am completly at a loss at WTH to do other then completly reinstall windows... Can anyone offer any other suggestions of what to do? Or if you also had this problem how you fixed it?

P.S. I am on my own computer, I can only use the internet and AIM otherwise it will do the above GRRRRR lol
