Have you seen the anouncment from Tony?

I buy both versions - I like all.

@Tony Hilliam,
other thread, same question:

Is the Digital Download version of TS2009 (both versions) the same download size how the DVD?

Please, Please say YES.:udrool:

There are no problem, with a TV-Cable-Provider and a little price for a month.

That's the top question for me for the new produkt.
I don't like the trouble with DVD I have with UTC and German "Zoll" must pay 20 € to this.

new paintshed templates?????

I just hope they make some new paintshed templates for 2009!
Unlike the templates that came with 2006: they are in fact 2004 models, that show a long list of errors when you try to open them in CCP. These are made by Auran, not a 3rd party. What is one supposed to do with them? When making a reskin, you already have an object full of errors, that will then need "fixing" down the road.

Hello

TS2009 as digital download will be the same size as the DVD version of TS2009.:)

I doubt that TEE will be the same downlaod size as TS2009.

Regards

Ahsan:)

Ummm, it is due for release in Nov. 2008 (atleasts that's what I read from some users)

And could you please stop treating me like I can't read? It's driving me up the wall...

Thank you very much, Ahsan.:)

in other news---oh crap do i have to wait two months for TRS2009??????????

Tony Hilliam,

Hopefully you are still following this thread ?

My concern is that Auran is possibly setting a "prior to Christmas" deadline (Economics 101) ? If TRS2009 is going to "reunite" the Trainz community, it must be error-free ! If it takes a month or two longer in development, let it be. Listen to the Beta testers, rather than watching the calendar.
Auran's sales will not suffer in the long haul as long as it is released as a COMPLETED product !

My thoughts ---DLR

Well put! Please DO NOT rush to ship out this package. Many people look for games after x-mas and many people (like myself) are quite willing to wait a while and even pay a bit more than the usual cost for a solid product. Something that is rushed, riddled with bugs and not fun does not help to establish a reputation and I think that if Auran wants to at least parry other companies train simulators, Auran needs to have a solid reputation, which means good service, good programs and good fun!

I also hope '09 will be able to incorporate all the features of previous trainz products as well as rolling stock, locomotives, etc...without errors. Do this and I'd be interested in buying this (knowing that anything made in trainz would work flawlessly in '09 would make it worth it's weight alone). Do it not and I'm afraid several members may hesitate or shun the product...just my two cents!

Gisa ^^

Unless Auran is prepared to publish it themselves, they will have to meet the deadline imposed by the publisher. That means bugs and features will be pressed into the disk at the same time. Even if the beta testers have identified every single problem in the program, some will get into the golden disk because the developer will have simply run out of time.

Software perfection is mutually exclusive.

So sacrificing long term growth for the sake of a quick one time sale is good business? Is a first time Trainz buyer going to continue with the franchise if the first edition he buys is too buggy? :(

So long as instant gratification, from the playroom to the boardroom rules, we will have these issues. This includes everyone from users (I want it now!) to stakeholders (I want profits now!) to ... . :o

The intelligent way would be: when known show stopper bugs are squashed, that's the right time to release a new version. :) Anything else is like tearing down the walls and burning them in the fireplace if you're cold. It might keep you warm at the moment but you'll end up with a rather drafty house.

Yes, but that's the way it is. Perhaps larger developers can decide their own timetable for release, but (if I'm not mistaken) Auran doesn't have that luxury.

Anyone who knows for a fact otherwise please correct me.

But that's how Auran have always been for the last few years Martin, TRS2004 had patches, TRS2006 had to have SP1 & TC3 has got several patches now because they were despatched with errors, bugs, and missing content because the developers had to stick to a given timetable. Euphod is spot on with his analysis, the publishers want it out before Christmas to maximise profits. Auran will let it go without checking it and it'll be the same FOR US ALL, having to await various patches to correct the bugs and fix the bloody errors.....

Patches to fix bugs and errors discovered after release is normal and good. Deliberately releasing something early with known bugs and errors is a sad reflexion of our collective intelligence. That we willing accept such things as normal speaks volumes - short term gain for long term pain. :o

We could always wait to purchase the product until a service pack has been released.

This might be exactly what Forum users do ? If it is released with known errors and a member posts it on the Forum , it could conceivably negate any extra Christmas sales profits .
I still think Auran should try once to release a finished product rather than watch the calendar !

But then again , everyone keeps asking me , " If you're so damn smart , why aintcha' rich ".
