Has anyone made a freeware 3900 Class Challenger?

I was curious to know if anyone has created a freeware UP 3900 Class 'Challenger' 4-6-6-4 after viewing the 'Steamshots USA' screenshot thread in the screenshot forum. For those who don't know which picture I'm mentioning, page 6, posted by user Kamran. If anyone knows where this engine can be found I would be grateful to know where it is. I didn't even think one of these had even been made, save for Paulz Trainz payware 3900 Class Challenger.

I know of those already. ANL made the early CSA-class challenger engines. I'm referring to the late-model Challengers like the 3985. The engine number in the screenshot was 3967, UP Greyhound colors, with yellow striping.

Hope one comes out soon, those are a favorite of mine. I recently bought some payware items so I've run out my payware budget for a while. Does anyone know what site they came from, though? That would help greatly in making a decision to purchase one.

I meant the webpage that the payware is located at, like how the newer RRMods content is listed at www.vrrmods.com instead of the older site, www.rrmods.com . that should clear up what webpage I was asking about. I can't understand Italian hardly at all and although it gets a little easier each time, I'm by no means fluent and can't actually speak Italian.

Sorry, I don't know. You'll have to use a Web translation service and figure it out for yourself. If you use Google Chrome as a web browser it will automatically ask if you want the page translated.

Even if I knew the link, you'd still have to register there and since it's payware (or was, at least) you'd also have to use know how to find your way around their (Italian) site to purchase the membership level that allowed you to download it (at least that's how it used to be setup).

Here is the link to TrainzItalia. http://www.trainzitalia.com/vbulletin/index.php
You do have to register to be able to download from Trainzitalia. They have some good downloads They have the recently released Sherman hill. A great place to run the ANL Up locos. The also have a freeware UP fef 844,and a ATSF 2900 Class steam loco.
As for translation I highly recommend Google Chorme Browser. The biggest reason is that it will automatically determine the language and ask if you would like it translated.

I know of his early Challengers, I got to try one before my copy of Trainz decided to make me re-enter the Serial number when I'd already done it. I'm not sure what I'll do now, most likely upgrade my RAM and hard drive space before getting TRS 2012.

Well I joined TrainzItalia and here is what I found about the late model Challengers;

They were done by Rudolf3610 and are Trainz build 2.2. Right out of the box only one of the engines and one of the tenders show up in TS12, all the others are red tagged.
Fortunately the fixes are relatively easy. There is an extra txt file in the engine shadow folder that needs to be deleted. For the tenders the "Load" folder needs to be copied from the working tender to the other tender/body folders and the config.txt fixed. Those fixes will get you all four tenders and three engines. 3976 is going to be more work since the boggies are still in pm mesh. I'm going to bash on them with PEV tools and expect, since Kamram did it, that I'll be successful. I have not driven these yet.

EDIT: Oops, turns out I had downloaded and installed the 2004 version not the 2006 version. To fix the 2006 tenders delete the anim line in the Coal section. I forget what I needed to do for the engines but it was very simple.

Thanks Normhart; this does add another dimension to UP steam power. Is it just me or at first glance alongside the early challengers by ANL, but do the late model challengers seem a bit overbalanced? Like the drivers seem a bit small for the engine size, but I think that's just me. Some days I begin to wonder about why this happens from time to time.

The Challengers shall be updated to TS12; I hope to release them - as freeware - in early 2013 (including DRGW and Clinchfield versions).

Unfortunately, so far I am stuck with the enginespec file. The current one is much underpowered and the loco is unable to exceed 20 MPH on the mild grade from Laramie to Hermosa with a 2,000 ton train.

I run TRS 2010 atm. Upgrading to TRS 2012 may be a future purchase but atm I don't know if it will ever happen. Good luck with fixing the Challengers, Pendolino.

Both wva-usa and philskene have put forward large engine spec files perhaps one of those would work for you. I haven't gotten around testing eiither yet.
