Hardware or Compatability Problems

Michigan Trainz Routes
I just recently purchased the TRS2010 EE and have seen some good and some not so good experiences with it. Real quick I am running Win 7 64b, AMD 5000 at 2.2gHz, 4 RAM, GeForce 8200 with a total Video Mem of 2031MB.

I am having trees flashing and strange textures on the trees (I do not like the speed trees). I am building a route for the Grand Trunk Western Mt. Clemens Sub and here are screen shots from it development and the problems with the graphics.

My question, hardware or is this a software problems or both?

Note the strange texture on the trees and grass. Location Flint Sub looking east at West Tappan from Wadhams Rd.

Note how the grass gets the funny screen like mesh on it. Location New Haven on the Mt. Clemens Sub.

Now my settings are maxed out... no problems with the frame rate and I have backed off the graphics and draw distance with no effect on the trees and grass issues. Any ideas? Thanks.

Try compatibility mode, I think it's something to do with the meshes of the trees+grass. Had similar with trees and compatibity sorted it.

Traded one set of trouble for another

Now that fixed the issue with the trees and grass looking funny, but now I have no draw distance and half the time tracks, buildings, and train flash in and out. I messed with the settings, over clocked the CPU and a few other settings (2.5 ghz dual cores) but still no correction. Yes all drivers are current. I am puzzled. I never had any problems like this with TRS2006. In fact TRS 2006 seems like it looks much better, especially with out all these graphics problems I am experiencing. Besides that, my TRS06 content works there and all the custom routes I made.

Basically it's old technology v new. Compatibility mode reduces performance. Check out the non built in Speed trees that are available from Pofig, Jankvis and some of McGuirel's freeware and payware ones plus there are quite a few 3d trees on the DLS that will work in native mode.

Poor draw distance can be related to bad splines that's anything that is a spline not built to the new standards, some old ones seem to be ok.

Use the developer stats in game and replace anything that has a worst buffer count of over 100.

I'll give those trees a try and look into the developer stats with the splines. Looks like I will be doing some spline replacement. Most of the time I do not use splines, but sever sections I have them for trees... The Auran Speed Trees look like something from the Wizard of Oz... perhaps someone will make a route for that! :)

Thanks,

Dan
